EXCELLENT!

Great series with great narration! I am enjoying it very much and plan to continue on with the rest of the series. Books one through nine of this saga are available through Audible Plus, and I highly recommend them! ☺️

I wish Soames's story could go on forever

It took me a good hour to get used to the narrator's British accent (the pace may have been a factor), but he has really brought to life Soames, who is now one of my favorite fiction characters. I was pleasantly surprised to see the narrator try a Southern (SC) accent to great effect.

Good story

The story dragged on at times and I felt as though I wouldn't be able to finish it. It lacked a certain charm of the previous Forsyte books. I found the secondary characters boring and didn't care for their stories. It was only toward the middle to end that it became any good and humorous. The narrator did a really good job and was able to add life to otherwise dull characters .

better and better

As I have said before, this author seems to warm to both his tale and his characters as the series progresses. The characters seem less stereotypical and more generously detailed to humanize their stories and the England of their time. I recommend this series of books, and this particular book to anyone who enjoys a good story presented over generations and with no particular hurry to learn about the characters and era. I find the naration a bit dramatic but that is simply how I feel about Audible books in general. I

Difficult to understand

Found the reading voice and the material read to be a bit to hard to understand clearly. Reading (or hearing) should be relaxing and this one makes you work to hard to keep up.

the least enjoyable of the forsyte collection

i loved the forsyte saga. this is the second book in the sequel. i liked this one least, as it seemed a bit self conscious and not as timeless as the installments that came before. john galsworthy's writing and wit, however, remains impeccable.
