A blinding snowstorm - and a homicidal maniac - traps a small party of friends in an isolated estate. Out of this deceptively simple setup, Agatha Christie fashioned one of her most ingenious puzzlers, which in turn would provide the basis for The Mousetrap, the longest-running play in history. From this classic title novella to the deliciously clever gems on its tail (solved to perfection by Hercule Poirot and Miss Jane Marple), this rare collection of murder most foul showcases Christie at her inventive best.

Story
In a remote house in the middle of Dartmoor, six shadowy figures huddle around a table for a seance. Tension rises as the spirits spell out a chilling message: "Captain Trevelyan...dead...murder." Is this black magic or simply a macabre joke? The only way to be certain is to locate Captain Trevelyan. Unfortunately, his home is six miles away and, with snowdrifts blocking the roads, someone will have to make the journey on foot....

Bad narration
The music in the background was annoying. The American narrator couldn't pronounce some words and hesitated at some spots. The narration was very quiet in some places and done very quickly. I love listening to Agatha Christie books on Audible but not this one. It is the worst narration that I have ever heard. I tried to listen to it two different times and I just couldn't follow it. The narration was so bad that I really couldn't figure out what was going on in the story.

Good story. Awful reader.
I didn’t realize you could ruin an Agatha Christie, but I’ve been proven wrong. This is such a great story & was completely ruined by the delivery. Paragraphs sounded like entire run-on-sentences as if there was no punctuation in the book. The voice is so bland you can barely tell which character is speaking (or if it’s the narrator). At some points he sounds drunk and slurring. This is a great book by one of the world’s best authors. Don’t let this version ruin it for you - find another!

Not a fan of this interpretation.
The reader is hard to listen to and the background music is annoying. Not need Christy dumbed down.

Don't buy it!
Annoying narration, with double annoying background music which was loud and continual. Should have known when it said "in an American voice".

Don't Waste Your Time/Money
This is absolutely the most annoying thing I have ever attempted to listen to. I don't even know where to start......stupid music playing non-stop during narrative; non-existent sound quality; narrator who has got to be related to someone.... no other explanation is possible for his selection. Agatha Christie must be spinning in her grave.
