Publisher's summary

Mark Jordan was in no hurry to finish the long ride across Texas to reach his first assignment in Dallas. He was ashamed of himself for not standing up to his father and choosing his own career. But now, he was an ordained minister and wished something would happen to change the course of his life, unaware that the two riders who were approaching him from the west would soon do that and much more.

A heart warming Christmas story

If you are looking for a wonderful Christmas western then The Scond Star is perfect to listen to with the whole family.

I am a stay at home grandma and I have been searching for a good family friendly story to brighten my hollidays. The Second Star is absolutely wonderful and is exactly what I was looking for. This narrator brings to life a magical story that has all my favorite elements of mystery and drama along with Christmas miracles. With my family and grandkids living across the country The Second Star is the type of story I can share with them and it brings us all closer together.

I recommend this audiobook for anyone who loves a good heartwarming tale set in the beautiful old west. I can't wait to start listening to the next C.J. Petite story with this excellent narrator.

A delightful Western Christmas story

Heartwarming. Wonderful. Delightful, Loved the book. Stayed up 3 hours past our normal bedtime to hear the ending. Both of us enjoyed the book tremendously.

I will definitely listen to more books by this author and narrator.

This was a wonderful, heartwarming Christmas tale

When Mark Jordan leave Saint Paul to go to his first post as an ordained minister, He stops in Texas to give his horse and himself a water break. While doing so two men ride up and to the very discerning Mark Jordan they seem like an innocent happy go lucky guy. One’s name Mike and one name is Gabe they have stars and when Mark tells them he two wanted to be a sheriff they say oh we are not the law we don’t enforce the law we make wrong things right. After having said this he sees the shiny gleaming star and the next thing Mark knows he goes from a hot Sandy Texas, to a cool snowing Texas and he doesn’t remember who he is the only clue he comes up phone is something written in his very own Bible that says Matt Jones is married to Anna Cooper on September 11, 1877 and it’s written in his own hand writing. The story is him trying to negotiate the five years he’s lost the wife he doesn’t know the town who loves him yet he can’t remember and wondering why these two guys Mike and Gabe would relay him when they seem like such nice people and he’s upset because he is usually good at judging a man by looking him in the eye. This book was so so so so so good end it is one I highly recommend. If you love historical fiction books with a happy ending this is the book for you. It isn’t your regular shoot them Up western as no one gets shot in this book. Well there was thought someone gets shot so there’s that but that’s just wants and all was well in the end. By this book it’s great! The narrator did an awesome job I thought he was wonderful I enjoyed his voice his tone he did all the voice is great it’s just a great book😊

Fantastic!

I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

I can't even stress how much I love this genre. I rarely listen to or read them lately but I grew up with my dad reading westerns and my grandfather never allowed the channel to stray from the western channel. This book brought back a lot of nostalgic feelings and made me fall in love with the genre all over again.

The storyline was great. It felt a bit predictable but sometimes that is for the best. The characters were well written and the narrator killed it. Nit too overdone and not boring either. Great voice, fantastic pacing and control.

Great Listen & Great Story

Nice way to start the Holiday season. I listened to L'Amour & Grey several years ago and really enjoyed the genre. I listen primarily to business and historical tomes these days. When this book popped up in recommendations I was surprised as there's nothing similar in my library. But fortunately it caught my eye and I decided to "reward" myself with a work of fiction.
Very pleased that I did as Mr. Petit spins a very fine yarn and Mr. White's vocal inflections keep the characters in each scene easily recognizable. Thanks to both for a very, very pleasant listen. Heading to Audible to find my next Petit / White listen.

Reminded me of growing up

I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

I was raised on Bonanza and Gunsmoke and John Wayne. I love country and westerns. The simplicity and beauty of living in the country has always been apart of me. This a beautiful story about a man who learns to find his own way and stand up to his oppressive father. The story was well thought out and beautiful narrated.
I recommend this book to those who are country at heart or to those who would love a Christmas story about finding your true self.
