Publisher's summary

There is nothing more terrifying than a girl with nothing to lose.

In the Skarrian Empire, societal class is determined by one factor, a factor which no one, neither emperors nor servants, can control: the Marks on their skin.

Ayla Helero is a Markless orphan who refuses to accept her dismal fate of oppression and servitude. Voices whisper to her in the night, promising a chance at a better tomorrow, if only she would listen. Will she bow down and capitulate to the evil hands that bind her, or will she listen to the voices, risking everything for a chance to be free?

Ayla listens. She hears the voices. She whispers back. The Markless will rise.

The Rise of the Markless is a symphony of epic proportions—a gripping tale that will leave readers spellbound until the final page is turned. Packed with heart-stopping action, heart-wrenching betrayals, and heartwarming triumphs, this unforgettable story is a must-read for fans of epic fantasy and dragon enthusiasts alike.

Great book, but terrible delivery

The story is good, but the AI reading is terrible and hard to listen to. There’s absolutely no emotion or difference in dialogue. It’s hard to get into it because every character sound exactly the same. Real people are way better!

Good story

I enjoyed the book but not the narrator it's all just one tone. I enjoy when a narrator turns the story alive for me .I hope this book gets narrator that can do that instead of computer narrator.

Fantastic Novel

I almost didn't listen to this book because it was done by virtual voice and I haven't finished a book narrated by one because they were so bad. But not even the virtual voice could ruin this book. IT IS THAT GOOD. The character development, the world building, all were exceptional. I was afraid that this book, after 18 hours of listening to it, would be a cliff hanger because there is a Book 2 and Book 3 but it has an ending to this story and one I found rewarding. I have started Book 2 and the characters are the same but it will be an entirely new adventure. This audiobook would be exceptional if done in a Dramaitzed Adaptation like Fourth Wing. But like I said, even the virtual voice didn't take away from the story. Few books cause me to be tense, upset, sad at how the markless are treated. I hated the "bad guy" and wanted to do harm to him myself. The lead "good guys" are normal everyday people with an extraordinary drive to do what's right. But, the reason I chose this book was because it was about dragons. It takes awhile to meet them but once you do, you are all in. I can't wait to get further in Book 2. I won't have to wait to meet them. They are part of the story from the beginning. Believe me, The Rise of the Markless is not a wasted credit. I recommend you try it.
