Publisher's summary

Move over Bridget Jones, here comes Mimi Finnegan! Thirty-four-year-old Mimi Finnegan is the third of four daughters and in her eyes, by far, the most unremarkable. She has no singular accomplishment that can stand up to any of her sisters. And if that isn't enough, she's the only single sibling in her family. Mimi's sisters decide that it's time she gets serious about husband hunting, so they begin a campaign to find Mr. Right for her. Considering her most recent dating encounters include a night club owner who stuffs bratwurst in his pants and a WASPy trust fund baby, living happily under his mother's thumb, Mimi is more than ready to meet the one. Enter celebrated British novelist Elliot Fielding. Sexual tension and anger heat up between the duo and it isn't until Mimi discovers that Elliot is almost engaged to another that she realizes she is head-over-heels in love with him. The journey will make you laugh, cry, and want to pull your hair out from frustration! Mimi eventually learns that she is quite remarkable in her own right and never needed to worry that she lived in her sister's shadows. The Reinvention of Mimi Finnegan is the perfect laugh-out-loud, feel-good book for any woman who has ever felt that she wasn't good enough.

Don't Forget The Talking Bunion

I found the book so-so. Funny in some places and kind of creepy in other places. Mimi has a bunion that speaks to her and who doesn't want one of those. I really liked her best friend, a former high school classmate. The story is a simple girl meets boy, girl gets boy tale. There is a lot of drama between the initial meeting and the requisite happy ending.

So much fun and humor in a YUMMY package

If you could sum up The Reinvention of Mimi Finnegan in three words, what would they be?

Full Figure Humor

What did you like best about this story?

I really enjoyed Ms. Dineen's humor. She created a great cast of fun characters and a great storyline to boot

Which character – as performed by BettySoo – was your favorite?

Mimi, of course, but really the whole cast (Kevin, Laurant, Elliot) were a lot of fun. Ms. BettySoo brought all of the cast to life. I loved her snarky attitude as Mimi and her stuffy English attitude with Elliot. I'm looking forward to hearing more from Ms. BettySoo.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Lots of out loud giggles. Thank you.

Any additional comments?

I received a free copy via audiobook boom in exchange for an unbiased review.

Fun and Bunions!

What made the experience of listening to The Reinvention of Mimi Finnegan the most enjoyable?

Mimi was a relatable character with a witty sense of humor. Betty Soo's narration was a perfect fit for Mimi and Edith.

What did you like best about this story?

The lighthearted story did not consume me with emotion, it was just a fun read.

Which character – as performed by BettySoo – was your favorite?

Mimi and Edith

Any additional comments?

As hard as I tried I could not fall in love with Elliot or relate to the overwhelming emotion I was being told about but could not feel for myself. I did not fall in love with this love story but I enjoyed the day to day with Mimi. I would definitely spend a credit but don't expect to be in love with the love triangle. For me, this was a story of Mimi and the love story was just a side story in Mimi's life. This was a nice change from the genre I've been reading lately. I will read more from Whitney Dineen when I'm just looking for a good time.

Cinderella in the City? Not Exactly, But a Good

Story all the same. Mimi Finnegan Reinvented is a drama of unending imaginations. If your idea of a romance is all around luck, beware because there's a price to be paid in tears.

Laugh-out-loud

If you like over-the-top characters and laugh-out-loud chick-lit, then this is the book for you. I listened to the audiobook edition and the narrator nailed it. She was the perfect match to this story. Light and fun - a brilliant chunk of escapism.

I LOVE to LOL!!

…and this book had me doing just that! The story keeps you wondering what will happen while living in the main character’s head, hearing what she thinks and feels. So many lol moments. I have to say that BettySoo did a fabulous job giving every character different voices and keeping them straight AND delivering all of the funny thoughts and actions of this character in a stand up comedian style, with ease. I listened to this book over maybe 3 days, as I listened while I drove, washed dishes, did laundry, eating meals, etc. I could relate to much of what she was living through related to weight. As I only listen to books a more I was sad to see there’s not a “narrated” aka performed book by Whitney Deneen. I believe I saw the sequel listed on Amazon. I’d been listening to weepy emotional books lately and this was such a great break from that type of book. I really do treasure finding people who can make me laugh!

I enjoyed the fact that Mimi was taking charge in making the change in her life and not wallowing.

I really enjoyed the conversations that Mimi had with her bunion, Edith. We all know we talk to ourselves!

Entertaining

This book has some funny moments as well as sad ones. The main character is one of those people that many with self esteem issues can relate to. The narration was excellent.
