Acerca de esta escucha

This is a very well-written explanation and defense of the biblical doctrine of predestination. The author, Loraine Boettner, received a bachelor of science degree from Tarkio College in 1925. He then attended Princeton Theological Seminary, receiving two degrees there: a bachelor of theology in 1928, and a master of theology in 1929. He received an honorary doctor of divinity degree from Tarkio College in 1933. First published in 1932, this is the 1954 edition. The author deals thoroughly with predestination by examining six main sections.

Section 1 defines the terms and concepts, laying the foundation: it is illogical for an infinite and wise God to create a world without a definite plan for that world. Section 2 elaborates the well-known “Five Points of Calvinism”. Section 3 considers common objections to the Reformed understanding of predestination. Section 4 looks at salvation by grace and the personal assurance of salvation. It also compares predestination to fatalism. Section 5 shows the practical importance of the doctrine of predestination. Section 6 briefly recounts the importance of Calvinism throughout church history and how it shaped the development of liberty among nations.

I am a soft Calvinist; I think this book is a good general defense of Calvinism but it can feel frustrating due to 1. Strawman Arminian arguments, 2. A massive lack of empathy for those who will parush without the gospel, and 3. Side-tracking to speak of things that have little to do with predistination. it's a good book and I'm glad to have it in my library but it won't be my chatecism to be sure.

Good summary. Hard Calvinism.

No believer in God’s grace should pass this book by! Narration is decent and appropriate for this type of book.

Classic presentation of our great doctrines!

Very insightful and informative. Especially liked the tie in with the pilgrims and how
America was founded, and the universities.

Wow

We need to
Constantly be reforming ourselves and theological understanding to the sacred scripture alone, exalting in the grace of God, the perfect life of God the son in flesh taking the sin of his people and CHRIST AS LORD reigning and returning, this book is God honoring and places mankind in its proper place, enslaved to sin, polluted , sinful in all complexity and in need of the savior of the world Jesus.
We must look for mercy not justice. the righteousness which can stand before the tribunal of God must be absolutely perfect and wholly conformable to the divine law, while even our best works in this life are all imperfect and defiled with sin
If you think your free will choice will save you by choosing CHRIST, you should rethink what placed you into Christ and give glory where it’s due, it’s a work of God that one believes in Christ , a work of Gods mercy that anyone is saved and has a change of heart and mind and life,
to God the father God the Son God the Holy Spirit be honor praise and worship.
Read listen and revisit this great work but read the Word of God devour eat the bread of life the words of sacred scripture every day and night spend time in prayer, know the. Scripture breath and live the word,

The biblical truth of the one true God

Great book, A must read for anyone who has ever studied the reformed doctrine of election. Whether or not you are for Calvinism and reformed doctrine or you oppose it, this a wonderful book. Written in 1925. I highly recommend it!

Great book, A must read for anyone…
