About this listen

Two years after the man she loved was killed in Afghanistan, Morgan Bartley is trying to put the pieces of her life back together. The reno on her dilapidated beach house in the Outer Banks might be just the distraction she needs to keep her debilitating anxiety attacks at bay and begin to heal her heart . . . if she can ignore the ridiculously handsome guy next door.

At twenty-eight, single-dad Jackson Montgomery's life revolves around his five-year-old daughter and his job as a search-and-rescue pilot for the coast guard. He's no stranger to saving a damsel in distress, and though his gorgeous new neighbor is clearly in distress, she's no damsel. She's stubborn as hell with walls a mile thick, and the dog tags hanging from her rearview mirror give him a pretty good clue as to why.

It doesn't matter that their attraction is undeniable—she swore she'd never fall for another pilot, let alone a military man. There are some wounds time can't heal, and some fears too consuming to conquer.

She's a barely breathing heartbreak on the edge of recovery.

He's a crash waiting to happen.

Together they could have it all . . . if they can endure the coming storm.

Contains mature themes.

Heart wrenching

The Reality of Everything is my absolute favorite book in the flight and glory series. Morgan is dealing with a broken heart at the man she has loved has died. She moves to North Carolina to try and start a new life but can’t escape the grief she carries with her. She meets her next door neighbor, Jackson and his adorable daughter in an extremely funny way. Jackson falls quickly but Morgan must first deal with her grief before she can consider a new relationship. It was refreshing to see how Morgan battled her grief, built stronger friendships by healing wounds and allowing herself to love again. Jackson is a patient, kind and loving man who was willing to fight for Morgan and accept her as she is. They have a beautiful relationship and I didn’t want the book to end!

HATTER-as or Ha-TERRAS

The fifth and final book in the Flight & Glory Series by Rebecca Yarros is equally as wonderful as the four books that precede it. Ms. Yarros writes from her experience as a military spouse. The sacrifices made by every character reflect those made by our service members and their families. This book deserves the five star reviews it has received.
All of the books in this series have excellent narrators, including Teddy Hamilton. If he is narrating, you can assume the book is worth your time and credit.
This is my only disappointment. - This book is set on Hatteras, an Outer Banks island off of North Carolina. If you've watched the Weather Channel during Category 3 or 4 hurricane coverage on Hatteras, you've seen Jim Cantore or another brave soul leaning into the extreme winds and rain to report the severity of the storm. Obviously, Ms. Yarros is familiar because she wrote a similar scene when a Category 4 hurricane hits Hatteras (pronounced HATTER-as). In Chapter 28, our hero, Jackson (narrated by Mr. Hamilton) pronounces it hat-TERRAS. Any chance you live on the west coast, Mr. Hamilton? Should Tantor Audio have told you how to pronounce locations on the east coast or is a narrator expected to research the pronunciations of words with which they are unfamiliar?

Sea Glass

Fantastic series of stories, I truly did enjoy all six of them. This one had the best ending bringing all the stories together.

Great ending to a terrific seriea

Loved the entire series. Although each book weaves its own tale of characters, the past characters make frequent visits, adding to the charm of the tested friendship.
Sad to see this series end. 😢

What a wonderful read. This left me smiling and feeling the peace that Morgan had found. I smiled big at the ending. Love wins. Feeling wonderful after this one.

Angsty; dragged at times

This wasn’t my favorite of Yarros’ books. It had a lot of angst and sorrow, but I think I wouldn’t have minded that as much were it not for CJ Bloom’s overly dramatic performance. Her voice just grated on my nerves, especially in the parts when she was screaming or crying. I had to turn down the volume when she was whining or screaming. Teddy Hamilton is always five stars for me. I couldn’t wait till his voice came back on. His character was extremely patient and sweet. There were moments when I felt the storyline dragged, and it lost my attention. I even walked away a few times while it was playing and didn’t feel I had missed anything crucial when I returned. I was tempted to bail on it a few times, but I had invested so much time in it already, I just kept going. I probably would have given it three stars had it not been for Teddy.

Laughed, cried and swooned...

To be honest, I've started the series with this book... completely out of order. I bought the audio because it was on sale in Audible, written by Rebecca Yarros, and narrated by CJ Bloom & Teddy Hamilton. So winning already... right?!?! Laughed, cried, swooned, and my heart nearly jumped out of my chest a few times. Now to go back to the rest of the series.
