About this listen

Anya: My father was ruthless. Cold. Calculated. Formidable. Every decision. Every step. Every thought. Every breath he controlled. I never thought anyone could despise him as much as I did. I was wrong. So wrong.

There was one person. He wanted revenge. I was the willing pawn. He was dangerous, beautiful, broken, and most of all a way to get back at my father. But there’s one thing I didn’t count on...falling in love.

Cassius: Stephen Glassman is my sworn enemy. And so, I felt no guilt as I took his most valuable possession. His darling daughter.

Anya’s suffering is my new favorite pastime. My promise to kill her one day? Inevitable. She’s mine now. Mine to control. Mine to seduce. Mine to own. Who knew revenge would be this sweet?

Not my favorite by the author

Ava Harrison is a one click author for me, but this one just didnt capture my attention. I cant pinpoint the exact reason it didnt click though. The narration was great and the storyline capturing, but nothing really snapped into place.

Beautiful story

Really loved the way the characters grew throughout the story. Way better than I originally expected. Makes you care about them the more you listen.

A must listen for mafia lovers!

Ava Harrison does it again!
Another fantastic mafia romance with a sexy, possessive, all consuming alpha male and the fiesty female that puts him in his place.
I loved Anya and Cassius!
These two had explosive chemistry and were so passionate!

Anya’s father has done Cassius wrong and he’s out to get his revenge which means kidnapping Steven Glassman’s daughter to settle things once and for all.
But all is not what it seems and when the truth is revealed, will the score finally be even?!?!
Talk about a plot twist I didn’t see coming!
This was a fantastic audiobook listen and I definitely recommend!!

🔥🔥🔥The hottest slow burn 🔥🔥🔥

Love this enemies to lovers/ slow burn story. I really enjoyed how the authors described all about the NOLA, the culture and the background.
The family drama, the secrets and all the past scars will eventually have Anya and Cassius bonding to a love like not other.
Connor Crais dark and sexy narration of this story plus and Vanessa Edwin’s young and innocent were PERFECT For the narration roles of Cassius and Anya. First time listening to Vanessa’s narration and wont be my last.

Not Your Typical Kidnapping Story

I am a big fan of Ava Harrison‘s work, but this is the first time I’ve read anything with Vanessa Fewings. To tell you the truth, I had a really hard time getting into the story at first, and I don’t know if it’s because of the narrators or the authors. I’m going to probably guess it’s not the authors because I have loved everything that Ava has written. She just doesn’t write horrible books. And although I usually enjoy Connor and Vanessa, their voices just didn’t seem to fit the characters. Connor sounded monotonous when he portrayed Cassius. He did a good job when he voiced the other characters, but I couldn’t picture Cassius when I heard Connor‘s voice. I can’t really describe the reason why I felt that way, but maybe it’s because I’m so used to Ava using Sebastian York.

I did like the chemistry that Cassius and Anya had together. I loved how she drove him crazy even as his prisoner. The cookie scene was the best and made me laugh.

I did like it well enough to recommend it. I thought it was quite original, even if the kidnapper/kidnapped story has been done many times. This one had a twist to it at the end, and I love that it was set in New Orleans.

I’m still giving us 15 stars because I think that other people will disagree with how I felt with the narrators, and I don’t want to discourage anybody from enjoying this book because the story really is good.

Messed up,but fabulous

I thoroughly enjoyed this book! The story is incredibly messed up from every point of view. It is full of emotional neglect and blackmail and deceit and just evil. But then regret and forgiveness and love and also interwoven in the narrative. It kind of makes you wonder in anyone in the story is sane. You definitely have to feel for Anya.
Maybe the best part is Connor Crais’ narration. He is the absolutely perfect Cassius! His delivery was spot on as what you would expect from a detached, ruthless b****rd. And Vanessa Edwin is the perfect sweet, innocent Anya. Kudos to Ava & Vanessa for casting the perfect narrators for this book! Well done! They were perfect!

Wow, amazing story, amazing voices!!!!!

I received an ALC for this book. I have to say it’s a Great story, lovely authors-combo Ava Harrison & Vanessa Fewings and great narration fr. Connor Crais and Vanessa Edwin!!! I’m pretty impressed!!! I truly did not expect a lot of suspenseful moments and many twists/turns!!! Their love is so intense amd sizzling hot kind of chemistry between Cassius Calvetti & Anya Glassman that you just sit back and say, hell, why not? I didn’t mind of the age gap on this one nor the slow burn and a little dark mafia romance!!!! I couldn’t stop listening or put the book down!!! I love the flow of how things reveal each chapter! You want to figure out all the clues and it kept you guessing who to trust more, Cassius or her family who protected her all these years! Revenge could be pretty ugly or sweet. Either way, you can’t miss reading/listening to this one! It was quite beautifully done!

One of the best stories of this genre this year!

This book consumed me, it had everything from suspense, betrayal, intrigue, secrets, emotional turmoil, dark romance, and characters you definitely want to meet. Cassius is a character you need to read to understand. he went through a very dark time and situation, he grew to be ruthless and with vengeance in mind, he never thought he will meet a woman that will bring him to his knees and yet make him a better man at the same time. Anya is a character that never expected for this story and yet I loved her so much, very well developed and her situation quite unique that had me intrigued.

There is a lot of action going on, there is so much story, the world-building in this story is one I want to read more about. It hooks you from the start but then you simply can't stop reading until you hit the last page. This author duo is perfect, they both combined their strengths in their writing abilities in the best way possible. I need to read way more books co-written by them. On the top list of reads on this genre for the year.

The audiobook was fantastic, the narrators Connor Crais and Vanessa Edwin did a brilliant job portraying the characters. I could feel every situation as if I was there, after reading the book I really needed to hear the audiobook, the editing and post-production were well done so if you like audiobooks you should give this a go, it certainly was a different experience from reading.
