About this listen

In Victorian England a witch and a detective are on the hunt for a serial killer in an enthralling novel of magic and murder by the Amazon Charts and Washington Post bestselling author of The Vine Witch.

After a nearly fatal blow to the skull, traumatized private detective Ian Cameron is found dazed and confused on a muddy riverbank in Victorian London. Among his effects: a bloodstained business card bearing the name of a master wizard and a curious pocket watch that doesn’t seem to tell time. To retrieve his lost memories, Ian demands answers from Edwina and Mary Blackwood, sister witches with a murky past. But as their secret is slowly unveiled, a dangerous mystery emerges on the darkened streets of London.

To help piece together Ian’s lost time, he and Edwina embark on a journey that will take them from the river foreshore to an East End music hall, and on to a safe house for witches in need of sanctuary from angry mortals. The clues they find suggest a link between a series of gruesome murders, a missing person’s case, and a dreadful suspicion that threatens to tear apart the bonds of sisterhood. As the investigation deepens, could Ian and Edwina be the next to die?

Spell bindin

Kept my attention completely. Can't wait to see what is next. The narrative adds so much to the story

Easy simple read

Book was very easy to listen to. The story was simplistic and didn’t have much for surprise.

Spellinginding Prose

The story and characters were interesting, but for me the best part of this work was the brilliant use of words.

Very entertaining

The performance was excellent. The story was like an adult Harry Potter - happening early in the 20th century - I am looking forward to listening to more stories by this author!

Spellbound again

I don't usually go for magic and fantasy books much but Luanne G. Smith somehow keeps me coming back for more and doing so she has set herself apart from all the other authors in this genre! So I have come to this conclusion, it is that Luanne G. Smith is using a magic spell on her readers and listeners, seriously! how else can a book about some spell casting women in turn of the 20th century England keep me captivated for 8 hours without the uses of witchcraft?

All kidding aside this book like her other books gets right to the point and doesn't let up until the end, The narration was perfect and it's not an over written story like so many are in this field.

Another great thing about her books is that they are all stand alone books that take part in a series , you can any enjoy of them without having to read the others.

Not my favorite- but it was the genre....

Good story just not something I will listen to again, just not my favorite type of story. Note to self: no need to listen to followup books...

Hauntingly beautiful

A story with twist, and turns of loved and lost, and betrayal leaves me, wanting to know more of the lives left

Vivid storytelling

I’m excited for the next book. As someone who can usually predict stories, the twists and turns were unexpected.

Grimore not Grimwha @Susanna Jones. Pronunciation.

The reader should really be familiar with the articles in the story so
they can enunciate the particulars of the story. The story is very interesting
and what a treat it is to have someone read to me. I feel like royalty.
The detective is found by two sister witches who are shunned by most
of the village. Thinking he was on the edge of death. the one sister took
his memories. But he does not die and is left hollow to the sister's horror.
