Good Read. Not a fan of the elevator music

Very good story. Likable heroine and hero and the sub-characters are reasonably well defined and interesting without being a distraction.
A couple of caveats - this is more like an adult fairy tale than historical fiction. There are quite a few plot devices that would have been utterly impossible for the time period. If that makes you nuts, skip this one. The other is the crudity of the language...
It's not so frequent or crude to wreck the book, but some of it was jarring.
Narration is fine, but the "on hold" music playing in the bacground did not add to the experience. I believe that there is a version without the music. Go with that.

Spoiled by the music

I normally enjoy Ms Quirk’s narration and would have again but the background music was for me unbearable. Unable to listen to the whole. A first for a Hoyt story. Please redo without the music.

Loved it

Loved the story. The characters were dynamic, fleshed out, quirky and halter skelter. Made the storyline pop. Could not stand the background music. It wasn’t appropriate for what was happening in each scene and that was really distracting at times. If you can find a version without this blasted music I’d suggest listening to it instead.

So Romantic!

I do like this author's style of writing and this story was just lovely. The characters were interesting and well formed and their story revolved around them with grace and ease.
I also enjoyed Moira Quirk's narration. She has a very well used voice and helped make this audiobook more interesting than it already was.
What I didn't enjoy was the music in the background and found it a bit distracting at times.

Very disappointed

From the very start it sounded like a story line that I heard before recently. I didn't like the reader and what's up with the background music and sounds.
I feel like it is a wasted credit.
