The story was okay. I did not care for the narrator's style, though he did do the voices and accents well.

I enjoyed this book very much. The story was interesting, peppered with little lessons on the railway history of UK. The characters were likeable, and I enjoyed the at times sparing conversations between Inspector Colback and his superintendent (especially his cheeky sarcastic replies ).
The narrator was great too, with a clear and lovely voice.
The only letdown in the audible version would be the editing/production. There were times when no pause was present and the conversations between characters were joined immediately like one sentence, or the scenes moved from one to next without stop. However, these were just small flaws.
Overall, this was a very enjoyable book.

I enjoyed the book and the storyline immensely. but, the narrator was lacking. He made a difference. Otherwise, it w as great fun. Enjoy!

I had a difficult time figuring out why I didn't enjoy this as much as I had thought i would. I like period pieces set in this time, my family has a connection to railroads of the time. What was it? In the end, I have to conclude it was the narration. The story seemed simplistic and stilted, but when I replayed the words in my mind, I realized it was the narrator causing it to be so. His voice had character and a good timbre, but the differentiation between characters wasn't clear and he didn't seem to have good sentence flow. But then the story was also just okay- it's an old plot that has simply been executed and performed better by others. So, three stars. I'd give the author another chance, but only if I'm hard up for a new listen.

The novelist enjoyable to listen to.

The author kept the story moving and included numerous interaction between the
Inspector and his Sargent. The narrator was clear in his pronunciation and has an easy sounding voice.

Was not sure how this would go but pleasantly surprised. A great cast of characters and suspense as well as a long journey to the truth

Fun to listen to. Good characters and interesting story. It was a bit too stereotypical. A lot of predictable story lines, but entertaining and the narrator was great.

The storyline was fine but the editing was poor. The majority is of time it sounded very choppy between sentences. And the transition between two separate storylines were hard to discern because of the lack of a pause between sentences. The inflection of the narrators voice made it sound like he was in the middle of a sentence versus at the beginning. I will try another Marston book.... just not with that narrator.
