Publisher's summary

Brought to you by Penguin.

The Union-Congregate war rages onward, and the Union's premier fighter pilots, the Homo Eridanus, start encountering deadly resistance from strange pilots on the Congregate side. Among wreckage, they find that new Congregate pilots aren't human, but Homo quantus, with strange wiring and AI connections.

At the same time, the Puppets come to the Union with offers of an alliance for a dangerous price: the rescue of the geneticist Antonio Del Casal who is a captive at Venus, with over a hundred Homo quantus.

The only one who might be able to break through the Congregate defences at Venus is a con man who has given up his profession.

Had hoped for more

Not quite the ending I had envisioned, in my opinion the weakest of the three books, but still worth the read.

Wonderful Characters

I love this entire series and cannot recommend it enough. It thoughtfully weaves together science, explorations of faith, and human nature. Beautifully executed and cannot wait for the next one.

An excellent continuation of the Quantum saga.

This was an excellent continuation of the Quantum saga, and it tied in some of the novella House of Styx as well.

Almost everything Sci Fi has to offer

This book has it all; genetic alterations, quantum physics, AIs and every kind of possible future government model. The narrator's vocal rang was phenomenal.

I openly screamed at the end...... nope no no! when does the next book come out? I need to know! 🤯 that's not fair to leave it like that! damn I love this series! Also Miss TNT was my favorite character.... bring her back with or without a broken leg!

audio issues

has a lot of echo and with heavy accents audio sounds distorted behind a wall and echoing to reach yoir ears.

Another spectacular story from Derek Kunsken!

He has rapidly become my favorite sci-fi author. you should start with book 1 if you are interested in this series. if you had already read the first book you would not need to read a review it will be an auto purchase to see more of this story.

space caper squared

While the first book was dense, mixing novel sci-fi concepts and a fully developed world, by this book, we known the world and can enjoy all the clever dialog, be properly horrified at dystopia, and have a few very good laughs at surprising solutions to impossible problems, solved with wit and copious creative swearing. Also, House of Styx tie-in! Ahhh! Such a good book!!

Creative and Entertaining

This future view of the human race is original and very different than most SF books which makes them very interesting and fun. Since these books are so different they can be confusing but the concepts are true and consistent. I must say that I really enjoyed them. I highly recommend this series.
