About this listen

The Pyramids and the Pentagon is a detailed study of how and why government agencies have, for decades, taken a clandestine and profound interest in numerous archeological, historical, and religious puzzles.

Focusing primarily upon the classified work of the U.S. Government, The Pyramids and the Pentagon invites you to take a wild ride into the fog-shrouded past.

Nick Redfern's The Pyramids and the Pentagon clearly and provocatively demonstrates that deep and dark conspiracies exist within the shadowy world of officialdom - conspiracies that have the ability to rock the foundations of civilization, religion, and history to their very core. The strange and amazing secrets of the past are just a heavily guarded government vault away.

Reader/ Writer Mismatch

First, this isn't my usual sort of book, but it was an interesting departure. Basically a fairly superficial overview of a number of less-publicized conspiracy theories from last-century US history. Obviously presented from the point of view of a true believer.

But the narrator's voice fairly drips with disdain for the material, and not in a funny or appealing way at all. I can practically hear him rolling his eyes as he narrates.

In most cases when I don't care for the narrator, I can at least respect that they are doing their best. But in this case it's as if the reader is deliberately trying to undermine the text. I'm already a skeptic regarding the material itself, but I'd like to hear it presented honestly as the author apparently intends.

Throw in the occasional gross mispronunciations (eh-mehr-AH-tus for emeritus? Really???) and it's hard to enjoy this.

Good book. Distracting narration.

The book was fun to listen to. It has some great information and ideas. However, the narration is distracting and the sound engineering and mixing is porely done. To the point that the poor job of mixing makes it hard to concentrate on the narrative.

Excellent book of alternative possibilities.

If you like books that explore alternative possibilities of history and the future, perhaps this book is for you. The stories are very entertaining and they will make you think.

Great book with horrible narration

Extremely interesting and well researched, They Pyramids and the Pentagon is a must have to anyone interested in the relationship between the government and fringe material.
The only thing that ruined it for me was the absolutely wooden narration. I think having kindle read it to me would have been better. It was easily the worst narration I've ever heard in an audiobook.

Decent Primer

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

I would, provided they weren't familiar with the bare essentials of the subject matter.

How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?

I think perhaps a deeper dive into fewer subjects would have been more enjoyable.

What aspect of Peter Jude’s performance would you have changed?

He came across as sarcastic to me.

If this book were a movie would you go see it?

Already covered in many documentaries... in greater depth.

Any additional comments?

I'm not denigrating this work, it's a solid 3 star book. I think it should have included the word 'overview' somewhere in the title.

Also, Redfern seems a HUGE fan of the adverb. At one point I was chuckling at the fact that he managed to get four of them into a single sentence! Right around the middle of the book it's adverb central so be prepared... or should I say listen preparedly?

A plethora of secrecy. The door cracked open.

Very good. Lots of food for thought here, some great, some flimsy conjecture. Whether you believe in aliens is irrelevant. The sheer number of gov't schemes and coverups is bad news for the general public. Please, use your mind. Investigate.

Narrator could be better.

Love Redfern. But this narrator wasn't up to the task. He couldn't pronounce certain words properly!
