About this listen

She’s woken up in a life she doesn’t recognise - with a daughter she doesn’t remember.

When Charlotte McKay wakes up in a hospital bed with no memory of how she got there, all she wants is to go back to the perfect London flat she shares with her husband, and the impressive career she’s worked so hard to build. But something’s not right. Her husband David is at her bedside - but so is a three-year-old girl, and she’s calling Charlotte "Mummy"....

Charlotte’s first instinct is panic. When - why - did she have a child? What about her promotion, her independence, her romantic weekends with David? She loved being that woman: how can she have turned into the stay-at-home mother she swore she’d never be?

Back at home, she dives into her unfamiliar world, hoping to piece together the mystery of her transformation. But faced with so much that feels foreign and unnatural, will she ever be happy in a life she can’t remember having - or wanting to have?

A good story. but a weak heroine

I just loved the narrator! Her British pronunciations were spot on. I loved all of the English expressions. The story was fairly good, but many many times I just wanted to smack the protagonist.. the narrator. Shes was just so DUMB sometimes. She rarely said what she wanted to say. So many of her main issues didn't get resolved. she was a whimp!

I'm glad I bought the Audible book and listened to it being read to me. I'm sure I would have enjoyed reading it too, but at least 50% of the pleasure of the story was the narration.

Wordy

The story was wordy in the beginning, but if you can hang in there, it gets better. Narrator's performance was great.

Journey of motherhood

I really enjoyed this book- recognize the struggle of figuring out which mold a mum should fit into it. Fiona always does a great job of narrating, I found the book to be delightful.

amazing story

kept me hooked and love the perspective it puts on motherhood and work. I would really recommend it, specially if you're not a mom yet

What Mystery?

This was not anything I was expecting. It was an okay book, but there was no mystery and certainly no thrills. I missed something somewhere. It is a nice story about a woman growing into a combined career person and mother. Narrator was good. It’s just that this story was very much mislabeled.

Slow

This book started almost like something big might happen but the entire book just left me wanting something more to happen. It had the potential for a gripping storyline but fell short in my opinion

Don't bother.

I'm so confused by this book. I have 9 mins left of this book and I'm still waiting for it to start. I never leave bad reviews. I hate judging other people's work. I enjoy 99% of the books I've listened to on audible. But, good lord. This is painful. I have no idea why this was labeled mystery/psychological thriller! I'm so disappointed by this book. Nothing about this book was a mystery or thrilling. Ouch. I've never felt like I've wasted a credit before now. Unless you get this for free don't bother. I feel terrible for leaving such a bad review, but it's bad. Maybe if it was in the proper category, someone else could enjoy it for what it's supposed to be.
I'm mad that I kept listening. I kept waiting for something to happen. I got so frustrated with this book when I looked at the remaining time. I saw there was only 1 hour left and NOTHING had happen yet. Wow. Ugh. The main character was so hard to like. Annoying. Whiny. Obnoxious.
Do not bother with this book. (I'm apologize to the author...truly. Audible needs to re categorize this book, immediately!)
