LitRPG means Literary Role Playing Game. Simply put, it’s the book version of watching someone play a video game, usually one that’s set up like an MMO (massively multiplayer online) RPG. It’s a blend of sci-fi and fantasy, depending on how it comes to be that our main character ends up living inside a virtual reality. the point of LitRPG is not how we get there, but that we get to be in this virtual reality period, living life as a badass video-game character. Beat the grind and submerse yourself in these addictive LitRPGs.

Interesting concepts and idea, execution is lacking

I really like a lot of elements in these books, but the writing just feels lacking. Not in the sense of technical writing know how or anything, but every situation that should have a big dramatic conclusion is swept aside for RPG elements. Making it all feel boring.

An example of this is when the MC is being shown some stuff by gods, keeping it vague to avoid spoilers, there is a funny situation where a skill is named after one of the gods and the gods doesn’t like this. It would have been great for the puny mortal MC to drag it out and make a show of picking the skill. Instead the writer has him do some pointless introspection. Missing the gods whole rant entirely. Just lame.

People don’t read these book for intense and lengthy discussions on the RPG elements of your universe. There is a time and a place for that to be sure, but you need to leave room for character interaction growth and awkward situations that are otherwise impossible without this genre. Look at any great series in this genre and you will see how much of the books is about the characters. Instead this book likes to skip over those events in favor of the MC grinding by himself. Odd, just an odd choice.

I am in deep, but thats a good thing

Honestly, it's one of the few litrpg series that grabs my attention and keeps it all the way through. Though I am relatively new to this sub genre, this is likely to be my favorite for a long time. The characters are well written and feel real, the foreign concepts and mechanics of the world are explained well enough to understand what is needed but not over explained, and though I could think of a few narrators that I would prefer, Travis did an exceptional job. (my favorite part of the performance is the uncanny, robotic sound of the being from the system)

and to those of you who are complaining about the authors use of "side stories." I've read a few of these comments. Yall do realize that each o]f those side chapters are connected right? It's foreshadowing and world building. Zogarth is setting up future events. If you stick to one character for the entire time, you get a limited understanding of all of the other main characters, as well as a bias towards Jake. You don't want a well structured story with complex characters and a new world to learn about and understand, you want a power fantasy. Go read sword art online or something.

A great sequel to a great book

I have no idea how this book ended so fast. I literally forced myself to pause from time to time to get some things done. I was really curious if the writer could really keep up with the amazing writing of the prequel, and he totally did. Loved it! also had much more humour and i loved it.

Nice conclusion to the previous novel

I liked this book. The protagonist isn't perfect, and he takes dumb risks, but that's the world he's in, so so be it. The poor guy can't have a relationship to save his life. So if you like characters interactions look elsewhere. The killing with crafting is unique. The narration is great.

Loved it.

a great sequel to what we've seen so far and a lot of groundwork for book 3 was done. I'm just as excited for book 3 as I was for book 2.

Awesome

Baldree does it again. You get pulled into the story to only have it end. The story is very good. Love the characters and looking forward to the next book.

The road is long.

It's all part of what was meant to be, and Jake is the wrench.
Some people don't like the POV changes but i think it adds some flavor to the story. This book went quick for me. I'm looking forward to the next one.

this read is beyond entertaining!

first I heard chapter 7 in book 1 from my friends audible and it just got better as the plot escalated. I personally didn't know books like this existed until I heard this series. I enjoyed book 1 as much as I enjoyed book 2. I can't wait for book 3! I'll be recommending these to my friends for something new to engage in on the daily life. overall, I'm satisfied with all the content it unfolds here. 10/10. keep up the great work!
