About this listen

Why do some people thrive while others just get by? What's their secret to peak performance and maximum happiness?

Some call it the zest, the gusto, or the extra edge in life. The ancient Indian spiritual tradition Vedanta calls it prana, or life force. We can call it vital force. By any name, it's the fundamental fuel that activates and optimizes all physical, emotional, and cognitive functions, including consciousness, perception, thinking, judgment, and memory.

In modern life, we have forgotten the golden key - the higher our energy, the better our performance in everything we do. Energy naturally impacts mind-set and moves us toward greater happiness, success, and self-awareness. This book gives you back your power with simple tools to take hold of the limitless energy of life itself - more swiftly and easily than you ever thought possible.

Rajshree Patel is a former federal prosecutor who discovered Vedanta by accident and went on to become an internationally renowned teacher of its deep wisdom and dynamic practice. In this audio, she reveals:

  • What vital force is, how it influences every single aspect of your life, how to enhance it - and how your mind, the biggest energy hog, can drain it
  • Tools to dial down the chatter of your racing mind and resolve your personal energy crisis
  • Why traditional mindfulness meditation may not be your best path to inner peace
  • Easy biohacking techniques, from breath work to meditation to movement, that reduce stress and maximize joy
  • Ancient secrets to fuel your purpose and performance in every aspect of your life

The Power of Vital Force is a practical pathway to the unlimited source of energy and intelligence that exists beyond the thinking and reasoning mind.

Very insightful and clarifying

I love this book
Having been exposed to meditation in the 60's and then many other times in various systems I thought the field and research were pretty definitive.
I have never encountered this perspective of discrimination and comparison of methods
This in itself is very critical in understanding the practice in various methods and the lovely advantages of vedic meditation and breathing as compared to the other methods .. So many meditation practices are much to esoteric and even possibly counterproductive, i found these distinctions from Rajshree to be well illumined and distinctive.

Thank you for reminding me to return to the simplicity of Vedic meditation and mantra....and these need for systems and ractices that are essentially applicable for those who really don't have time for weeklong meditations and years of study..and the ones like mindfulness that does not achieve the desired results...though mindfulness was developed for certain reasons it was more for monks and others who used it for certain daily functions, not as a stand alone meditation practice..I really needed to hear that.
Also I saw some bad ratings based on lack of tutorial aspects and techniques..but I thought this was a "resource", the course she offers " so for me there was no conflict..i dont always need how to manuals first but rather the broad perspective and there were indeed little tips on breathing and lack of prolonged expertise etc...so this series of more negative opinions does not in any way detract from the value of the book.

With that said I would love to see another book from Rajshree....this deserves to be expanded and detailed. I am very happy with this book
It weaves together 50 years of study of many areas of meditation..this really is rich...Please consider another book!

Very Light on How To

Loved the message but was looking for more. Certainly not a manual on how to develop Vital Force which would have actually been beneficial.

There's no breathing or meditation instruction

I hate it when people write long advertisements for things they want to sell and call it a book and ask you to pay for it!

Save your money

Beyond the chapter on the mindfulness trap which made some sense, the author repeats her thoughts for the first 3-4 chapters (4hrs), asking you to trust her and the solutions will be provided in later chapters.

At the first breathing exercise/technique she proceeds to sell you on her website and online course. Did I just buy the book to be fed an advertisement after listening to the same thing for 4hrs?

KKJ book. Give it a miss

5 stars for R. Patel, yet 2 books rolled into one

First off I’d like to give Ms. Patel five stars! Her wisdom is life-changing and immeasurable. I am very happy to know about her now and will follow her immensely. I feel blessed to live in LA where she will hopefully continue to teach classes and workshops.
I feel grateful for her jaw dropping nuggets of gold she drops in this book.

Her delivery is smooth and soothing, like a very wise aunt from India. It’s hilarious when she drops into profanity now and then; it doesn’t sound in character for her but it’s refreshingly real.

About the book, I picked it up to learn about BREATH WORK AND VEDIC MEDITATION. I wanted to be inspired to change my life through the introduction of daily breathing practices. Ms. Patel has certainly convinced me to make this move towards breath work. However, I very strongly feel like this was two books rolled into one. There were many instances throughout that felt very long winded, going into too much explanation for what seemed off topic.

The first half of the book more or less discusses the breath, yoga and the mind. I found all of this fascinating, though chapters 3 and 4 go into too much detail about the different parts of brain and mind and could have been condensed into one or two pages.

The second half of the book goes into... everything else related to creating a better life for yourself. It discusses mindset, acceptance versus resistance, daily practices, and sooo much more. I feel like this book takes on too much all at once. I would have enjoyed this book much more if it stuck just to breath work and meditation.

I didn’t need to understand in so much detail the different sections of the mind and brain, Big Bang theory, protons versus neutrons versus electrons, Newton versus Einstein, and on and on.

I recommend reading the book versus listening on Audible, because then you can benefit from the AMAZING wisdom throughout and skim through the parts that go into too much detail.

Lastly I disagree with some of the negative reviews that claim Ms. Patel is shamelessly promoting her online workshops throughout. I did not feel this one bit. In fact she very clearly states that you cannot really teach the breathing techniques in a book.

I feel like you will gain incredible benefit with this book, yet READ, SKIM AS NEEDED and don’t listen. :)
