Sometimes you look in the mirror...sometimes it looks back.
Those who belong to the secret society called The Oversight know many things. They know cold iron will hold back the beasts in the darkness. They know it is dangerous to stand between two mirrors. And they know that despite their dwindling numbers, it remains their duty to protect humanity from the predations of the supernatural. And vice versa.
But two of the society's strongest members, Mr. Sharp and Sara Falk, are trapped in the world between the mirrors, looking for each other, searching for a way back home. What they discover there will have ominous consequences both for The Oversight and the world it protects - effects that will make them question everything they thought they knew.
The dark waters rise. The candle is guttering. But the light still remains. For now....

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
Absolutely! This is an original, fresh and complex trilogy, so you need to start with the 1st book in the series. In addition to a great nail biting story, the narration is superlatively delivered by the author = Charlie Fletcher! I cannot not wait for the 3rd installment in this series. What other book might you compare The Paradox to and why?
Philip Pullman: "His "Dark Materials" Trilogy and Garth Nix: "Abhorsen/The Old Kingdom" TrilogyHave you listened to any of Charlie Fletcher’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
This book is the 1st book that Charlie Fletcher has personally narrated; however all of his books have been divine. Including: "Stoneheart" Trilogy narrated by Jim Dale and this new Trilogy "The Oversight".Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
I cannot count them all!Any additional comments?

Would you try another book from Charlie Fletcher and/or Charlie Fletcher?
No, sadly I fear I would not.How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?
The story was fine, the problem is in the telling of it.Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Charlie Fletcher?
Ideally, Simon Prebble, but in a pinch another actual professional would do.Any additional comments?
Mr. Fletcher, was there honestly no one able to talk you out of this monumentally poor decision? The acting was poor, the characterizations inconsistent, and the production quality laughable (were you recording from within a tin can, perhaps?) - all things which detract from and impede ones enjoyment of the story itself, and could also have easily been avoided. One can only hope that someone comes to their senses and this story is re-recorded - at which point it may be tolerable. At *this* point, sadly, it is not.Oh dear, Mr. Fletcher

As far as the Audible version goes, I was very disappointed to see that the reader was changed from the first book, The Oversight. I had thoroughly enjoyed Simon Prebble as the narrator for The Oversight and was quite disappointed not to return to the same voiced characters. While Mr Fletcher does a decent job, I once again found, somewhat surprisingly, that an author-read book just somehow misses the mark. I also found that there was something odd about the audio quality, especially in the first several chapters where it sounded like listening to an old time radio recording. It was most notable when listening in the car and I'm not sure whether it resolved or I just got used to the sound.
Good but... Recording ugh & Reader meh :(
