About this listen

Secrets of the past...

Although Raistlin and Caramon urge him not to go, Sturm Brightblade attends an annual Solamnic ceremony that is interrupted by...a stranger, taunting challenge. Clues from the past. Death.

Once he accepts a mysterious gauntlet, young Sturm must make a dangerous journey with some curious friends, rescue a fair if querulous maid, defeat a traitor knight, and learn the secret fate of his long-lost father. He must also learn the meaning of honor.

The fourth installment in the popular Meetings Sextet tells the story of Sturm Brightblade, the noble Solamnic Knight, in the years before Sturm joined up with the other companions of the best-selling Dragonlance series.

A solid dragonlance audiobook -

It's a fun backstory for Sturm as a youth. The characters are interesting and the story is engaging. Kevin Stillwell as narrator makes the audiobook. His professionalism and skill with voices ought to be recruited for far more fantasy novels.

A bold mystery in Sturms past!

This tale is a winding one, full of intersting characters. There is ancient forest magic, sordid revenge and of course oathes made with and without the measure. It can be confusing, some dots are left for us to connect but the story is better for it. Be patient and almost all will be revealed. Narration is excellent, clear and varied voicres and toned and even ladies are well done, just the songs are a tad dry, no fault of the speaker. It is an intersting window into young Sturm's life and choices. Good to see Raistlin and Caramon too. Ive read a ton of Dragonlance and I think its worthy addition to the lore, by Paladine give it a try!

Was an OK story

Never really connected with the character in the Dragonlance Wars trilogy and still felt that way with this. Interesting story but not as captivating as others I've gone through.

Terrible

it's obvious this author did not read the original trilogy or any of the other Dragonlance novels. Very bad character development, Completely disregards canon.

what is it about?

I had a hard time keeping my mind on the story. I felt like I was listening to an author with a thesaurus in one hand and a need to impress his professor in the other. Instead of a flowing story you had to take each sentence and examine it. Sorry, but thumbs down on the author.

Hardly a page turner...

This is by far the most boring book in this series, so much so that I couldn’t even finish it before moving on to the next one which I hope is better.
