Great Help for Understanding Change

What did you love best about The Neuroscience of Change?

Tying the science and wisdom traditions gives weight to the theses in the book. By referencing each disparate area, Dr. McGonigal provides insights that appeal to both the spiritual and the logical.

What other book might you compare The Neuroscience of Change to and why?

I bought this because I really enjoyed Dr. McGonigal's, "The Willpower Instinct". That book was one of the few audio books I've purchased that I considered substantial enough to also want the hard copy. I have also given that book as gifts.

Have you listened to any of the narrator’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I know other reviewers have give Dr. McGonigal low marks for her reading. Perhaps it could have been improved upon. I have not heard her narrate other books, but I thought she did a fabulous job in the TED talk.

What did you learn from The Neuroscience of Change that you would use in your daily life?

The meditations and reflections are particularly helpful.

Do you want to know why you can't be present?

It's about time some has told me exactly why I struggle with being stuck in the past and future and never present to participate in the present. Kelly hit it right in the nail head!!!!!

Great for awareness about change

If you are on a deliberate and conscious path to change, I recommend this book. I suggest that you familiarize yourself with the author and her material on YouTube before listening.

The book may not be for everyone or one has to be ready for it mentally to fully benefit from it. One should be open to meditation to get value.

I appreciate the authenticity and uniqueness of Kelly narrating her own material.

Superb. Ironically addictive

Try on some change with insight and a little science; it’s a lot more fun than trying to wiggle into your wardrobe while angrily vowing never to think about smoking and shame.

What a great listen!

For me this author was impactful to raising awareness to self compassion, and to being able to acknowledge being in the moment. I really enjoyed how she included real life stories and then embedded a guided meditation practice into that subject of discussion. I also enjoyed the tone of her voice. This was important for me to be able to actually listen. Thank you Kelly!

Worst diction of any Audible narrator yet.

Where does The Neuroscience of Change rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

It ranks very high. Content is superior to most. Narration is almost a fatal flaw.

What was one of the most memorable moments of The Neuroscience of Change?

The most memorable moments are those where scientific observation validates theory that I am able to train my brain/mind to produce new and different results in areas of my life of my choosing.

How did the narrator detract from the book?

The narrator sounds like she is making a deliberate attempt to mispronounce words. (i.e. exhale comes out ex hal) This is coupled with inflections of words in declarative sentences that I found very distracting.

Any additional comments?

If the content of this book were anything less than outstanding, I could not listen to it. In fact, if it were redone by a competent narrator, I would buy it again.
