Publisher's summary

Everyone in Gatlin has a story....

Before she met and married Mitchell Wate, the beautiful and brilliant Lila Jane Evers was an honors student at Duke University. Studying late into the night in the rare books library, she is captivated by a single line of text on an old piece of parchment: "In the Light there is Dark, and in the Dark there is Light."

What can it mean?

Then, one night, Lila Jane meets a mysterious young man who may have the answer. His name is Macon Ravenwood, and for every secret he reveals, he is hiding another. With Macon's help, Lila Jane uncovers the wonders of the Caster world - the Light and the Dark. But a romance between the Incubus who is fighting his own dark side and this fiercely independent Mortal is doomed from the start. The closer Lila Jane and Macon become, the more her life is in danger.

Discover the unforgettable and untold story of how Lila and Macon fell in love in this all-new Beautiful Creatures novella from number-one New York Times best-selling authors Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl.

Great insight

The beautiful Creatures series is what got me back into reading. These books are a great way after reading the original series to learn more about the characters!

Destiny Wasn’t Finished With This Boy And His Mother

If You Have Read the Other Books in The Beautiful Creatures Series, this addition is a Must.
Even though it is relatively short, It tells parts of the Story that Need to be Told!

This entry in the series is mostly told from the viewpoint and memory of Gatlin South Carolina’s Librarian Marion Ashcroft, Dr. Ashcroft if you prefer, or in this piece of the saga, simply “Mare” by her Duke University roommate and best friend Lila Jane Evers.

The untold story behind the beginning of Ethan’s Mother’s involvement in the “Caster World” is revealed to a slightly older and certainly more worldly Ethan Wate by his Aunt Marion, yet another title Marion Ashcroft proudly bears.

Ethan Wate has his reasons for wanting to know his Mother’s “Caster History”, and the story of Bittersweet Unresolved Love between Lila Jane Evers and Macon Ravenwood, mostly owing to of Ethan’s own Destiny with Caster girl Lena Duchannes.

LILA AND MACON!!!

Where does The Mortal Heart rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

It was a good addition to this series!!!!

What was one of the most memorable moments of The Mortal Heart?

When Lila see's the castor library for the first time!

Which scene was your favorite?

I liked the whole story!

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I did feel sorry for Lila and Macon...forbidden love is so heart breaking!

Any additional comments?

Glad I caught this little series on sale...I liked learning more about Lila and Macon and seeing that even after his change, he still wasn't that evil...But he understood that he and Lila couldn't be, and so did she! On to the next one!

magnificent

I'd expect nothing less from this dynamic duo, the story of Macon and Lila is touching and heart wrenching and it made me wish that they would have found a way to remain together, but, if they had there would be no Ethan Waite.

Loved the story, but was a bit confused

Loved learning how Lila and Macon met. I gave 3 starts because I was a bit confused when I read that Silas fathered children with 2 different MORTAL women.. I went back to confirm and no, neither Arelia or Emmaline are mortal. Rushed maybe…?

Getting questions answered...

Kami and Margaret wrote this as an epilogue like sequel. We find out a little tiny bit about Ethan and Lena after high school. The book is actually focused on how Lila met Macon and fell madly in with him. I always had questions in this area and I'm glad they answered it!
