Publisher's summary
The plan is simple. All I have to do is stalk my ex-fiancé, ‘accidentally’ bump into him in this Christmas-obsessed town he’s moved to, and – bam! - he’ll regret dumping me and beg me to take him back.
Problem number 1: He’s got a girlfriend. A sweet, adorable woman.
New plan: Find someone to lure my ex’s girlfriend away so I can step in and win him back.
Problem number 2: The gorgeous, grumpy man I’ve just asked to distract the girlfriend is storming over to my ex with a murderous expression.
It’s possible I didn’t do enough research before I enacted this plan.
Now, I’ve got to convince my ex I’ve changed, avoid freezing to death in this snowy town, and not fall in love with the grumpy man who’s agreed to help me.
I’ve failed at everything else I’ve ever tried. What could go wrong this time?

Ryder, Garrett, Kenzo, and Diesel - The Vipers. Their deals are as sordid as their business, and their reputation is enough to bring a grown man to his knees, forcing him to beg for mercy. They are not people you mess with, yet my dad did. The old man ran up a debt with them and then sold me to cover his losses. Yes, sold me. They own me now. I’m theirs in every sense of the word. But I’ve never been meek and compliant.

Story
Obituary writer Nadine Barbault doesn’t mind being called “Lady Death”. It suits the ice queen persona she’s cultivated to survive the fast-paced Toronto Herald. So when Nadine learns that famous (and reclusive) author Dot Voline has died, she doesn’t hesitate to run the obituary…only to discover that Dot is very much alive. Nadine’s screw-up has brought Wesley Chen of the rival Spear no end of joy—she’s been a thorn in his extremely ambitious side for years. But the renewed interest in Dot also surfaced chatter about a mysterious past scandal.

Story
Hockey coach Ashley Jaswal doesn't take nonsense from anyone … except her overbearing and superstitious family. They believe she's a good luck charm for her brother Jas, the newest Vancouver Canucks draft pick, forcing Ash to attend all his games as he rises up the NHL ranks, sacrificing her personal life (not that she has one—who decided hockey season needed to be 10 months long anyway?). Ash also clashes with Jas’s teammate, Canucks captain Devin Snyder.

Asher Donovan is a living legend—the darling of the Premier League, the (arguably) greatest footballer in the world. But his reckless antics and recent team transfer have caused much controversy, and when his feud with his rival-turned-teammate costs them a championship, they’re forced to “bond” during off-season cross-training. Surviving the summer shouldn’t be hard…until Asher meets their new trainer. She’s beautiful, talented, and no matter how hard he tries, he can’t take his mind off her.

Not a fan of virtual voice
I couldn’t listen to this. It’s the first time I’ve tried to listen to a virtual voice book. I couldn’t do it. The inflection was wrong. Some of the words were mispronounced and I missed the way a voice actor changes the voices to show different characters. This is important to me since I’m listening, not reading.
I skipped to the end to find out the resolution. I won’t listen to another virtual voice.

Horrible narration
Good story but the AI narration took away from it. It was stiff and awkward places

Tenacity of the main character
Admire the story focus on characters growth. There wss a mix of self depreciating immature 'practical' choices that life experiences taught characters were the best options available. And then evolution of developmenting appreciation of positive self worth.

Narration was the pits
This was a very cute Hokiday Rom-Com. But definitely lost some affect with the monotone AI narration.

Yuletide CO
Cherry was in for a shock when she made it to Yuletide CO to get her ex back. RJ or a James as he is currently known in town has a new girlfriends. Unknown to either RJ or Alice the currently girlfriend Cherry the old girlfriends wants him back and had recruited a local to help her. Unknown to her the local Xavier happens to be tall dewy clean too young Alice’s brother. Things are just rom com holiday fine to the end.
There are some good characters here: Peach, Blu, Frankie, Murphy and pair of moms and a ex service mom loving dad and a town of others. This was fun and holiday oriented. The virtual vice provide a bit more than a text to speech experience.

Toxic FMC with Bad narration
Unfortunately I have to agree about the narration. I'm not apposed to someday there being good AI narration but today wasn't that day. Though there is some inflection the sound is still robotic. The storyline seems doomed from the beginning... a woman hung up on a man for 2 years after he broke up, cut all ties and correspondence and moved away to a secret location 😳 can ypu say staker. She lies and manipulates and bases real-life on the template of a romance novel? Gotta want the FMC to seek professional help. The problem is that I couldn't get to that point in the book because of the narration. maybe I can pick up the k7ndlw version at a later date.

Good story, but I wish there was an actual narrator.
I really enjoyed the story, but the virtual narrator was very hard to listen. The names weren't even pronounced consistently and at times it was difficult to understand/remember who's POV it was. Overall I liked it but I will definitely avoid virtual voice narration again!

Good story but the computer narration was hard to overcome
Characters were decent. It was a good choice for the membership inclusion Audible library. They need to move away from the computer narration.
