Acerca de esta escucha

Cassidy Monarch had dreams to sing, to be famous, to tour the world at the head of his own rock band. Then his parents were killed in a tragic accident, leaving him to raise his two siblings. Determined to hold on to what remained of his family, Cassidy settled into an ordinary life, his dreams of fame reduced to occasional nights of singing at karaoke dives. But his careful, ordinary life began to fray with his new job, and the beautiful, charming boss who reminds him of all the things he tried to stop wanting.

Malcolm Osborne is a classic rags-to-riches story, a foster child who wound up with the perfect family and more money than he knows what to do with. He's wealthy, beautiful, successful, and completely miserable. Then he hires a new worker for his office, a young, hardworking man with a sadness in his eyes that Malcolm aches to banish, hoping that in doing so he will be rid of his own loneliness as well.

As the title states, the story was pretty good. Predictable, but cute. The narration, however was incredibly wooden and I think it took a lot away from the story.

Story was pretty good, narration not so much

This is a great listen. I really didn't know what to expect as I have not read any books by this author. But since Paul Morey is one of my favorite narrators, I took a chance. Glad I did. This was a wonderful story of a young man's sacrifice for his family when parents are killed and he is forced to bury his dreams in order to take care of his young brother and sister. The other MC is a great character who is unexpectedly wealthy after being raised in the foster system to two unrelated by blood brothers. The brother's dynamic is fantastic and funny as hell. But their love for each other comes through loud and clear. All these dynamics come together for a great romantic story. Worth a credit.

Wonderful Surprise

You know what... I liked the book...good m/m romance, but I kinda skipped like 1/3 of the book... the beginning was just so long and drawn out.. I mean the I want that guy, I work for that guy, but I don't know who that guy really is...was a bit too much. After you skip to the part where the boss figures out he is in love with two guys, who is actually the same guy, the story really picks up... And what a stupid name for a band... m/m romance or not.. "One missing butterfly" or the "four butterflies" really! C'mon!!!

Great Narration... I loved Paul Morey's voice.. and the gruff voice, which I call "Sam Kage's voice" was perfect!

Good credit or sale.. don't buy.. .over 10 buck, and I really don't think it was worth a buy...

Great Morey Narration!

I don’t know why I haven’t read this sooner!

It was fantastic!

Cassidy is an amazing vocalist on the cusp of setting the music world on fire when his parents die and he’s left in charge of his younger siblings. He ends up getting one crap job after another – for years – and is only now working at an office job that seems to appreciate him.

Malcolm is a foster kid who struck it rich. Now he and his other foster siblings work together on various projects – including an entertainment enterprise.

At first there are some questions: Is he gay? Can I get in trouble fraternizing with a fellow employee? Are we too different? Etc.

Eventually coincidences collide and the two meet and then are forced to deal with these questions AND their attraction.

**

I loved Cassidy and his story. Up until the very end, his was a real and very authentic story of struggle and “doing the right thing”. There were a few instances about the ending that felt a little rushed or set up to keep the lovers apart, but they were small. (IE the coincidence of the band, the sudden change of heart, his unwillingness to see his siblings as adults…)

Malcolm’s story was more fantasy than anything else. I would have liked it a bit better if his story held some more realism in it… but again, a minor complaint.

I am looking forward to the upcoming sequels and frankly couldn’t put this book down once I started it!

Audio

Paul Morey is a favorite of mine and I loved his narration here as well. I still think his “Spanish accent” sounds a bit too much like his Russian accent, but it still gives the story that exotic flavor and helps to differentiate the characters so well.

All in all I give both the book and the narration 4.5 of 5 stars

How did I miss listening to this sooner?

I really loved this story because you Can not help Loving the Young talented Singer turned parent in one really bad turn of luck. You love him for his sacrifices and hurt inside for the Way he has become scared of being himself. Malcom is just a great guy with a complicated background and more Money Than he knows what to do with since he realises that it Cant buy him happiness. The only Reason it is Four and not five Stars is that i would have loved the story about Them growning into the men they are to be part of the book. LOVE this narrator - so pleasent to listen to and hardly ever makes mistakes - best narrator ever.

Great story great narration

Cassidy is a rocker, his voice so beautiful that he and his band are poised for greatness. He is in the band with his friends, and can't wait to get on with his life. Until the phone call that lets him know his parents were killed in a car accident, and his dreams of rock stardom come crashing down. Cassidy loves his family, and raising his two younger siblings is now his responsibility.
Cassidy takes responsible jobs, singing in karaoke bars when he can. He's the one who no one can hook up with. When he gets a new job working for Malcolm, a former foster kid who is now a rich business owner, he has a near immediate crush. There are times when I thought Mal was going to be a complete jerk (when he is at dinner with Cassidy, gets a call from an ex, and then just takes off, leaving Cassidy to walk) but he more than redeems himself.
While the plot itself was a solid four stars for me, lost dreams and a knight in a shining Maserati, the characters make it a five. They are charming and funny. The brothers together made me laugh, and I could completely picture them. Cassidy, the hidden tattoos and bad boy flavor with his own incredibly likeable siblings was so much fun. And Mal? Adored him. A multi millionaire saying "eleventy billion" and just wanting love? He's delicious. A lovely book.
Definitely recommended for a light, happy read with gorgeous men who have personalities.

I couldn't get past the first couple chapters. This book could've been written by a sixth grader. So, if you're 11 or under and immature for your age, have at it.

Beware. Juvenile Fiction.

This is a trite tale suited to a Mills and Boon romance. A bit cringey!
