Publisher's summary

The Mis-Education of the Negro, originally published in 1933, is a book that discusses the flaws of Eurocentric curricula that ignores African American history and culture. Dr. Woodson claims that Black people of his day were being culturally indoctrinated in American schools. He believed the system neglected to give African American students a proper sense of who they are within society; it failed to prepare them for success and caused them to seek out inferior positions in society. The author goes to great lengths to identify the historical roots of the problem, its development, and its influence on interpersonal relations and historical scholarship. Among his proposed solutions is the challenge to his readers to educate themselves.

very enlightening book

I really like this book. It was quite educating and caused me to evaluate some of my ways of thinking. One part of the book that stood out was the part explaining how"the system" teaches you to think and feel about yourself. What are people to call themselves? I want to listen to this book again. I agree with a quote from scripture, "my people perish for the lack of knowledge." This is a must read.

Must read book!

I am personally not a fan of this narrator, however, this book was well worth the risk and honestly he wasn't that bad this time.

The Voice Performance was Incredible

Woodson's vision is unmatched. He is a man out of time. His foresight into the future problems that may amass in the black population is astounding. And his work can be mined at the basis of what ever current event you may seek commentary on from Fashion, to political correct terminology. To the question of Radical socialism or Authoritarian Capitalism. His central pillar is we must educate our self on ourselves. And leverage this understanding to create long term plans based on foresight rathwr than Reactionary emotion of the time, instigated by white Supremacists. Lastly, the voice artist was incredible and brought needed weight and gravity to his words.
