what a wonderful story. superbly woven and put together The range of emotions the way he crafts the story. everything gemmel does is just amazing

I didn’t think that I could love anyone more than the first books main character Conaver. However, Gemmell brings you into to love this books main character Bane. It’s a amazing series!

Gemmell is right up there with Tolkien, and the Rigante series is his masterwork in my opinion

The narration is usually good, but some of her character interpretations are truly awful. Particularly Bane who sounds downright comical.

Classic

I read this book back in the 90s and enjoyed it very much. The audio version brought it to life in ways that I truly enjoyed.

Great voice, plot keeps moving holding your interest and curiosity. Good character insight, you almost want to like the bad guys too.

Great characters and woven fantastically

It was a great second story of the Regante. I wish David was still among us continuing to write. I’m almost finished with his novels and I can say that ivd thoroughly enjoyed them all. This one in particular.

One of Gemmell’s best

…one of Gemmel’s best. But it is. Woven with mastery.

Narrator is good at most points but manages to make the main character’s voice a tad annoying. Some characters with heavy accents also feel overdone. Not a deal breaker though.
