Publisher's summary

In a startling follow-up to the New York Times best-seller The Jesus Family Tomb, a historical detective story that unravels a newly translated document filled with startling revelations and fascinating detail about the life and times of Jesus.

Waiting to be rediscovered in the British Library is an ancient manuscript of the early Church, copied by an anonymous monk. The manuscript is at least 1,450 years old, possibly dating to the first century, Jesus' lifetime. And now, The Lost Gospel provides the first-ever translation from Syriac into English of this unique document that tells the inside story of Jesus' social, family, and political life.

The Lost Gospel takes listeners on an unparalleled historical adventure through a paradigm-shifting manuscript. What the authors eventually discover is astounding: confirmation of Jesus' marriage to Mary the Magdalene; the names of their two children; the towering presence of Mary the Magdalene; a previously unknown plot on Jesus' life, thirteen years prior to the crucifixion; an assassination attempt against Mary the Magdalene and their children; Jesus' connection to political figures at the highest level of the Roman Empire; and a religious movement that antedates that of Paul - the Church of Mary the Magdalene. Part historical detective story, part modern adventure, The Lost Gospel reveals secrets that have been hiding in plain sight for millennia.

Alternative Probabilities

Systematic obliteration of alternative knowledge such as the Mayan literature by "Christians" is another example

Great listen

While the narrator isn’t the greatest I’ve ever heard he does a decent job. The storyline was excellent though. Well thought out and detailed. I’ll likely listen to it again at some point. I can certainly see why it ruffled feathers but these things usually do, unfortunately.

A compelling case for a hidden history

This book and the audio rendition make a compelling case that Jesus was married to Mary Magdalene and caught up in a complex web of political rivalries, plots and intrigue.

The analysis of the manuscript and correlation to other texts as well as the canonical gospels is quite detailed, as is the linkage to Roman politics and verifiable historical events.

Great composition of historical findings

This is a composition of historical findings that paints Christianity in a new light. One that embraces the human experience and the growth that comes when one makes the decision to engage. This pulls the theological focus to the life of Christ over the passion of Christ this allowing a deeper more intimate relationship with Jesus of Nazareth. Must read for all those willing to engage in a different narrative.

Brilliant!

When I was 4 years old A few ideas came to me that I remember to this day. Of Mary Magdalene ... she was not a prostitute, and 2. that she and Jesus actually married. and of Jesus.... he did not die on the cross, but was rendered unconscious. radical I know, but for years after I have been saying that the story of Jesus is not what you think.

How marvelous it is to get validation on a few things. incidentally, at 4, the only person I told about this thought I had at that moment was my grandmother, a devout Christian Scientist. she advised me to keep it to myself.

Brilliant book! a lot of work and research went into put this all together. It venerates Mary from Magdala, and puts her back in her proper place, beside Jesus as his wife, well done!

Very interesting

This was a thought-provoking listen. It was well researched and presented. People may argue against the author’s’ interpretations, but they presented facts, references, and timelines that support their thesis. I found this extremely educational and interesting.
