Publisher's summary
From a galaxy torn by civil war to a sleepy planet on the edge of the known universe, Enforcer Jakai del Quint pursues the failed Warlord Dorno Ban Sant to final showdown leaving Jakai alone and stranded on a planet called Earth far from the civilization he fought to protect. More than a hundred years later Jakai awakes, freed from his hibernation by a curious hiker. Together, hunted by Earth’s most powerful governments, fleeing from covert alien “observers,” they join together to pursue Jakai’s need to bring long delayed justice to the vicious warlord now using his advanced technology to dominate Earth.
With only the belief in his mission and the support of a woman with nothing to lose, Jakai crosses the world only to be caught in the web of violence that blankets the Middle East. In a sprint to a final confrontation, Jakai faces not only his past, but his future, and the future of Earth itself as he challenges the hidden forces of the Galactic core and those who would make Earth nothing more than stepping stone to a renewed cycle of galactic war.

Story
Ashley Perrin is fresh out of college and starting a job as a community liaison for the Third District–the city’s only sector with more alien residents than humans. Ashley’s barely found where the paper clips are kept when she’s beset with constituent complaints–from too much noise at the Annual Lupidian Celebration Parade to a trip-and-fall chicken to a very particular type of alien hornet that threatens the very city itself. And if that’s not terrifying enough, Ashley is next up at the office karaoke night.

Story
In the not-too-distant future, a 21-member crew launches from Earth. Their mission: to establish a temporary colony on Mars. Little do they know that colony will become permanent–and the last stand of the human race. Because, without warning, every single person left on Earth simply...vanishes. Now, a thousand years later, the resources needed to sustain life are running out, and the very existence of the Mars colony is threatened. Humankind has only one option–to return to its home planet.

Story ok but reading left much to be desired
Story ok but reading left much to be desired. Inflections and accents were not good. Kind of ran together, had a hard time with her accents telling who was who.

This may very be an excellent book.......
What did you like best about The Lost Enforcer? What did you like least?
It seemed an interesting story idea
What was one of the most memorable moments of The Lost Enforcer?
Sadly, the narration has ensured the name "Darla Middlebrook" will stick in my mind for a long time, I will certainly avoid any other books she narrates. Seriously, did you mob listen to this before you released it to the public? If it were my first Audiobook, I don't know I'f I'd have bought a second....
What didn’t you like about Darla Middlebrook’s performance?
Nothing! Her voices for male characters brings to mind a person of exceedinlgly slow-wit who's either been up too late and or is very drunk...or both.... AND they're all the same! If she just read the book in something slightly less than a monotone, it would be preferable! She stresses all the wrong syllables and I just don't think I can listen to any more of this book. Yes. I think I'll need a refund. It could be that I'm an Australian and hence her voice sounds wrong...but if that's the case, then why have none of the other excellent narrators bothered me even the least? I WANT to listen to the story...but I just can't. Every now and then one encounters somebody who you just KNOW has decided on the wrong line of work...OMG, I just googled her to see she is a speech pathologist...that is handy, she should investigate who murdered her ability to speak, there's ample evidence of the crime....
Did The Lost Enforcer inspire you to do anything?
It inspired me to write a review, which I just don't normally do...before even listening to more that 2 hours of it. I have listened to +100 Audiobooks and none have ever done this to me.The narration is simply that bad
Any additional comments?
I feel deeply sorry Irene + Bob, I promise I shall try and find another book you have written and give it a go and if it's half decent I promise to give you a positive review!...But Darla has ruined your creation...

Story could be OK but for the reader
This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?
The story seamed to be good, it was just the reader. she is HORRIBLE
What was the most interesting aspect of this story? The least interesting?
plot line was good, reader was horrible
How could the performance have been better?
The reader was like listening to a female version of Garfield the cat who had just smoked a pound of weed. i'm not kidding. excruciatingly S-L-O-W and ill-timed. she read almost all the characters in a really brain baked way that made them sound like idiots. it was VERY difficult to tell who was talking in a character dialog. because she used the same voice and often didn't break between.
i could not get through the book.
Any additional comments?
please god don't hire that person again.
i really think with a decent reader the book might have been alright.
but she ruined it.

Forgive the Narrator-Great Story Anyhow
Where does The Lost Enforcer rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
Were it not for the Narrator, it would rank near the top. The story is well devloped, complex and easily followed, however the Narrators inept handling of pronunciation and accent almost made me stop. Once past the first couple of chapters, the story overcame the performance and held me entranced.
What did you like best about this story?
The complexity of characters was woven in the fabric of the work, the characters seemed real, with actual motivations, not simply as if they walked on stage and did their lines.
What didn’t you like about Darla Middlebrook’s performance?
She does female parts well, but her application of a James Bond Villan russian accent, horribly delivered to the male characters was distracting and lessened my enjoyment of an otherwise great experience.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
I would have liked to, but 13 hours of sitting would make my butt hurt.
Any additional comments?
The book is exceptionally well plotted and flows well.
