Publisher's summary

"A chilling terrorism thriller tailor-made for fans of I Am Pilgrim and World War Z." (BestThrillers.com)

The Light Reapers are a Special Operations Unit who had served numerous campaigns together. They were an expertly trained and elite group, but could they ever prepare for what was to happen next?

Under a shroud of darkness and maliciousness, a viral weapon was being produced by an alliance of terrorists bent on the destruction of their respective enemies. When double-crossed by an ISIS faction, the viral weapon is stolen and prematurely unleashed on the planet.

Now facing a worldwide epidemic, The Light Reapers are deployed to rescue a scientist who may be able to develop an antidote. If that wasn't difficult enough, they also must track down the ISIS faction and eliminate them. All while battling hordes of the infected.

Not for sensitive readers

If you are offended by gore and excessive swearing, particularly the use of the “F” word, this book definitely is not for you. There is an abundance of both. If this doesn’t bother you and you like stories with plenty of violence and military action, then get this book and enjoy.
I am generally not bothered by descriptions of violent bloody death or gratuitous swearing. My guess is that this would be typical for battle hardened men, and women, in situations like those depicted in this book. The action is nonstop. I was a bit disturbed by the deaths of some of the characters but it is fiction, so there is that. The bad guys are so unequivocally nasty that I rooted for the soldiers to prevail.

End of the world from a different perspective.

What happens when you combine current events, elite special forces, and a zombie virus? You get the end of the world described in The Light Reapers: End of the World. Gary Hickman draws on his personal military experience as well as the three disparate elements to create a post-apocalyptic tale that is action packed and populated with well-developed characters. I listened to the audiobook version narrated by Cory Mikhals and found it very difficult to do much more than listen to the story until I had finished it.

Worldwide virus causing a thinking dead.

Terrorists accidentally leak a virus they had planned to use strategically while they transport through the various stops on the way to their base effectively spreading the word with a refreshing twist on the common zombie genre. I won't ruin the surprise because they are in fact one of the better twists on a zombie.
The light reapers, our team in charge of hunting down the terrorist cell and what is left of the virus. Is well written the authors knowledge or research in Millatary weapons and tactics is better than most in that there was no making up of weapons someone in the millatary would not know even a layman knows what a 50 caliber machine gun, and M4 carbine are. So you don't say to yourself yeah they just shot a hundred zombies with 2 (assault pistols) lol. So that's another plus.
The slow then rapid devolving of chain of command and then without spoiling it all hell breaks loose. The ourator could be a touch strange everyone sounds southern born and raised to the day they joined the army. Which was OK because alot of the characters are from the south that and in the beginning like most zombie movies and books the action is a little repetitive, but as I said before these are different zombies and towards the middle and end there is a added element to the story wich not only makes it more interesting, but you get invested in the Light Reapers and actually start to really get attached to the characters. Definitely 4 stars listening 4.5 read.
