Publisher's summary

A fun, fast, fantastical listen: After an altercation with a clown, I get lost in the woods and find a strange town. When the librarian of the town dies in front of me, I try on his ring. It fits. I’m declared the new librarian by the mayor and townspeople. I get to live in a houseful of books. But I soon learn the job involves more than just tomes and information. In fact, my first assignment is to discover who murdered my predecessor.

Meanwhile, I learn that the town is a whole lot stranger than I’d first thought and I’d thought it was pretty strange from the first. The library has a ghoul and a ghost, which seems excessive. Not everyone in the town of Eden is alive or even human. A headless seductress (she carries her head around with her) propositions me, but may also be trying to kill me.

Honestly, I have some secrets of my own. After aging out of foster care, I hit the road. At first, I just drift; then I begin to get messages in dreams that direct me to places where people need the kind of help I can give them. I learn many things. One of the things I learn is I am the One. The only problem is that I am not that One. I’m the other One. The One who will bring destruction.

The Librarian of the Haunted Library….it was not for me

This book was not for me…I really wanted to enjoy it, but I couldn’t do it. The storyline was not what I expected. This book didn’t hold my attention. I had to go back several times because I had stopped listening.
Just because I didn’t like the book, someone may love it. Listen to the sample before you buy or use a credit .

An odd story

I love thé idea that all roads, err forests, lead to the top of the mountain. While it was entertaining I sometimes found it repetitive and jumping logic

Sigh

I really wanted to like this book. Sadly I was board at around the half way mark. And decided to stop listening with about 2 hours left. The story has no point and just rambles around. It is utterly boring.

Where the living and the supernatural collide!

The Librarian of the Haunted Library by Brian Yansky, narrated by Michael Gilboe, is a torrent of spectral secrets and chuckles. Yansky's writing charms with a blend of spooky and witty, while Gilboe's narration captures the eerie yet humorous tone perfectly. “I get to live in a house full of books,” hints at the quirky adventures in Eden—where the living and the supernatural collide.

Original Story

There are a lot of plot holes and jumping from one thing to another. Didnt really have time

A bit slow-paced.

Sadly, due to the ‘telling’ writing style, this was just dull. It did seem like a fun premise, and I think with stronger writing and/or editing it could’ve been.
Not bad, per se, but not exactly exciting—too dull for me.

Audio:
So, it’s not a crisp, clear production, there’s sort of a far-away / vintage-y sound quality to this. Fortunately, it’s a short read. That said, the narrator did a decent job, if only the production was professional, this would’ve been a great listen.

A Disjointed Fever Dream

I am pretty sure I know what the author was going for ... something along the lines of the weird nonsensical humor from the likes of Pratchett, Gaiman, et al ... and it actually starts off okay, but then goes a bit off the rails stringing together strange encounters that don't seem related to each other at all ... so it becomes more like the corny short-stories told around a campfire in a competition to see who has the silliest take on reality. For awhile it was fun ... then it just got old.

I was given this free advance review/listener copy (ARC) audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

It was sos

Started okay but fizzled at the end. Brought in too many weird characters. if it had stayed true to the storyline it would have been a better book
