Publisher's summary

New York, 1800. Three brutal murders. One impossible killer.

The police have fingered David Stirling for the crimes, but Lord Muc—feared gang leader in the Five Points—doesn't believe a word of it, and sets out to prove the young man's innocence.

When Stirling is abducted from Muc's care by the father of one of the victim's seeking revenge, Muc has only three days to get to the bottom of the case, or Stirling will be killed.

To add to his woes, Muc finds a suspected assassin on his own trail, and the investigation will lead deep into the turf of his bitterest rival gangs.

Can Lord Muc survive long enough to solve the case?

Its okay

This book takes place in the1800's with 3 murders. The narrator does a good job with the characters and story. It felt to me like the story was dragged on to much even with it being a short story. It might work for someone else but didn't for me.

I received this book for free in exchange for my honest opinion.

1800's & a Brutal Murder Mystery

Parents: PG13-R more adult style read
Language: R - quite a bit of cussing, lots taking the Lord's name in vain, and plenty of f-bombs
Violence: R - pretty graphic descriptions of these victims' throats being torn out and the carnage left behind
Sexual content: PG13 - insinuations and such but no actual bedroom scenes

This is a murder mystery that I would say is geared more for the adult male reader. The main character is an interesting person from Ireland (I think) and seems to be the leader of some underground gang, yet also has the propensity for investigating. He's been successful in the past in catching a serial killer so why not try again in his new town? The story was fine it did have some great twist and turns, it was just more gruesome and had more bad language then I personally prefer.

The narrator did fit the main character really well, but I felt it was a bit slow in the playback speed - was better at 1.4x speed.

I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

An enjoyable, unique read/listen

The Legend of Long Jones: Lord Muc in America, Book 1, my eleventh read from author European P. Douglas. A well-written, entertaining read, with intriguing, well-developed characters that I read in a single setting. 4-hours 9-minutes/168-pages. Having read The Dolocher: The Alderman James Mystery Thriller Series & Rise of the Dolocher I was excited to read there was more about characters from those 2 books. Peter Kuhn's narration made a good book's enjoyment even more enjoyable though not as the first 2 books. “I received a free Audible copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review." The gifting of this book did not affect my opinion of it. (RIP Marley January 20, 2014 - July 24, 2018).

A great listen.

I received the audio version of this book from the author through Story Origin. I have to say the narrator was perfect for this Lord Muc character. A job well done with all the characters actually.
Lord Muc is now starting over in America. He just cant help himself. He gets caught up in another murder mystery. He also has someone after him. Twists and turns that kept me listening way too late. The murders were solved. But Book 2 will have to be read to see who wants Muc dead.
Very well written. Very well told.

An excellent start to a new series!

The Legend of Long Jones is the tenth book by European P Douglas that I have read or listened to, and I have to say I found it to be not just an incredibly good story, but a story with characters who felt somewhat familiar. Lord Muc and the other characters were very reminiscent of characters from Rise of the Dolocher, and The Dolocher. Like the Dolocher books, this book is filled with action, mystery and twists that keep you reading/listening to figure out who the killer is and what will happen to David Stirling. My review is based on listening to the audiobook version of this story and it must be noted that Peter Kuhn’s narration not only brought each of the characters to life but gave the story a life that made it very enjoyable. I received an Advance Reader Copy of this book from the author thr0ugh StoryOrigin and chose to provide my review.
