About this listen
The Last Vampire: The Blood Armageddon Series
It's been 15 years since the world fell apart under the onslaught of a vampire horde. Nothing is the same. The suckers own the night, and survivors of the apocalypse move about only by day. Earth has been reduced to ashes as evil has taken it over piece by piece. Few have been able to stand against the onslaught.
Except for a rare breed of warriors seeking to eradicate the scourge that plagues Earth.
They call themselves Mortal Makers. And Declan is the best. A former member of SEAL Team Six, Declan uses his skills to track down and eliminate as many vampires as he can. On a quest to find the Source, the "vampire zero" that started the Event in the first place, Declan uses an unorthodox method to attract suckers right to him before he kills them.
But as he travels further west on his mission, he finds that not all of the evil left in the world exists only at night.
Sometimes the living are worse than the undead.

Story
In the beginning, the gods destroyed the world. Five hundred years later, things haven’t gotten much better for humans. The demigods that were left behind to guard over humanity have been using them as fodder for an endless civil war between themselves, and the humans just go on dutifully slaughtering each other, battle after battle. It’s not all bad, though. Perry McGown makes his living off those bloody, stinking battlefields. He works on a crew that reclaims all the spent shell casings. But if anyone found out that he was a deserter from the war, he’d be executed for heresy.

Faced with these horrors, there's only one thing a small-time wizard can do: absolutely nothing. Doing something could get a man killed. Armed only with a modern view of magic, a snarky bloodthirsty apprentice, and no concept of the phrase "fair fight", Maker is far too weak to try and change the world. Ten years has passed since an infectious virus nearly consumed all of mankind. Millions died, millions more became infected, changed, and turned into mindless, feral hunters bent on the consumption of living flesh. Archer was a solitary man, scavenging what he could to survive off the ruins of the world that no longer existed. A world gone mad, where those who still lived were just as great of threat as those who were infected.

Unique take on Vampire stories
I really enjoyed this one. The characters are well written, the story is exciting, and the setting was a unique one for me. I like when authors take a different spin on known tropes. Having Vampires be out in the open, and having caused the downfall of society makes for excitement from page 1 through the final moments of the story. I am hoping to pick up the next installment very soon.

Vampires take over
A gritty, post-apocalypse story full of drama and action. While I understood Declan's motivations, I found myself not liking him much. Which was fine — I don't think that he would care that I didn't like him. :) He was very mission focused, and did whatever he had to in order to accomplish his goals. Very ends justifying means.
Alex Hyde-White's narration had just the right tone for Declan.

The Last Vampire vs the Last SEAL
standard take of stoic survivor, this time a SEAL, who roams the wasteland of post apocalyptic US eliminating the vampires who took his family. Akin to laconic Eastwood characters, not unafraid to use the locals to get to his prey.
except the prey doesn't follow Vampire rules laid out by Bram Stoker and the prey knows he is coming.

Hooked me in on First Page
This book reminds me of how the beginning of the Walking dead but instead of Zombies it is Vampires. It's a great story of a soldier who came home and his story of his family becoming these Vampires and he becomes a hunter to kill off these Vampires. That most of his men from the military have all been killed. He is trying to find the man Vampire who started it all. The trip through it all keeps you interested and affects with your emotions.
I received this book for free in exchange for my honest opinion.

Good story, but...
I enjoyed the first few chapters until the author managed to weave in some current-day political rhetoric go to the story. who would have thought the protagonist would express anti-Trump sentiment in a post-apocalyptic, dystopian future. I wish I were making this up... Loved the diatribe about tolerance in this segment 🙄
