Publisher's summary

The National Best Seller and a Reese Witherspoon's Hello Sunshine Book Club Pick

“Will keep you up. In a ‘can’t put it down’ way. It’s ‘The Talented Mr. Ripley’ with XX chromosomes.” (The Skimm)

“Deliciously duplicitous. . . . equally as twisty, spellbinding, and addictive as Gillian Flynn’s Gone Girl or Paula Hawkins’s The Girl on the Train.” (Library Journal, starred review)

Amber Patterson is fed up. She's tired of being a nobody: a plain, invisible woman who blends into the background. She deserves more - a life of money and power like the one blond-haired, blue-eyed goddess Daphne Parrish takes for granted.

To everyone in the exclusive town of Bishops Harbor, Connecticut, Daphne - a socialite and philanthropist - and her real-estate mogul husband, Jackson, are a couple straight out of a fairy tale.

Amber's envy could eat her alive...if she didn't have a plan. Amber uses Daphne's compassion and caring to insinuate herself into the family's life - the first step in a meticulous scheme to undermine her. Before long Amber is Daphne's closest confidante, traveling to Europe with the Parrishes and their lovely young daughters and growing closer to Jackson. But a skeleton from her past may undermine everything that Amber has worked toward, and if it is discovered, her well-laid plan may fall to pieces.

With shocking turns and dark secrets that will keep you guessing until the very end, The Last Mrs. Parrish is a fresh, juicy, and utterly addictive thriller from a diabolically imaginative talent.

Evil, Deception and a dash of Luxury!

Great story - kept me interested the entire time. Unlike other reviewers, I enjoyed hearing the descriptions of the ridiculously lavish houses, cars and parties! It was like an escape to try to picture all that luxury! I also loved the two points of view, and although I was able to guess SOME of goings-on, I did not see everything and was pleasantly surprised! Amber's character, with all her evil thoughts, was entertaining to listen to. This story should be enjoyed for what it is - fantasy mixed with a little steaminess (although not too graphic or distasteful), and a good dose of evil plotting. The ending was great too - I loved it!

Could have been great without the unending sexual assault scenes

Yes the storyline was addicting and compelling but good grief, the rape and sexual humiliation scenes go on and on leaving the listener with sordid imagery that doesn’t easily go away. It didn’t need more than a few to prove the point that the husband was horrible.
It’s a shame that one has to endure all the sexual assaults just to find out what happens. Stay away from this if you don’t like unending female debasement . Also (spoiler alert) the very last chapter was trite and didn’t make sense....the heroine had more sense than to set herself up for further harm.

Anyone looking to get lost in a twisting story full of deceit and lies will be pleased to find themselves basking in The Last Mrs Parish. The author grabs your attention and only releases you as the story comes to a close. Fun!

*rolling my eyes* Not impressed

going into the heart of the book, I was ok with the storyline..the plan and level of deceit. towards the second half of the book, I could barely listen anymore without wanting to fast forward to the end. it was hard to listen to the type of abuse handed down in the marital relationship. the book was dragging out so much.

Bad made for TV Storyline

The storyline was weak. The “twist” easy to figure out way too soon and it was basically a bad made for TV movie storyline

Part 1's Narrator is awful

I wanted to like this book, but the narrator drove me crazy in Part 1. Her voice was so monotone and staccato. I don't know if it was intentional to portray Amber's coldness, but I don't really think so. Then I started to think it was due to the way the book was written, but in Part II when the narrator switched it was so much better. I only stuck with it because I knew there was a second narrator.

Not impressed

I liked this book better when it was called Gone Girl. Very predictable and also disturbing.

If you want to consume this book, read it

The story was okay—not great, but a good fun/beach read—but the narration is painful. Inflection/expression is poor and the pace is slower than necessary. Skip the audio version and consume on paper if you want to add this one to your reading list.

This book was so incredibly good, it was what finally got my co-workers to start listening to audible! Just a great plot twist, characterization, narration, really the whole package!

A True thriller

Talk about getting what you deserved!! The storyline is great. Characters are definitely NOT what they seem. Bringing to life the saying "There are two sides to every story...then there's the truth!" Great audio too!
