About this listen

In all the days since my kidnapping, breaking and transformation into a hunter at the hands of the half-human, half-demon Nephilim, my life has been a mass of chaotic actions and reactions to the horrors of the Antarctic underworld. I have battled unnatural monsters, fled for my life, and sacrificed everything - or thought I had, when I stepped through the gates of Tartarus. Every choice I have made was in response to forces beyond my control, lacking any kind of direction.

But now, reunited with my friends, Kainda and Em, and in the company of new friends, Wright and Kat, I am taking control of the chaos and choosing my own direction-down. Deeper than the realm of Hades, the most feared of the Nephilim, deeper than the gates of Tartarus and deeper than any human being has ventured since the beginnings of the human race.

My goal is simple-find the Jericho shofar, a weapon revealed to me by Chronus the Titan. I don't know what it does or how it works, but I know the Nephilim fear it and that Nephil, possessing the body of Ninnis, will do anything to stop me from recovering it. The path will be dangerous and the cost might be great, but my path is clear: retrieve the shofar, return to the surface and prepare for war.

My name is Solomon Ull Vincent - the Last Hunter - and I am done running.

The more I read this series, the better it gets.

Filled with excitement, this book builds on the previous adventures of Solomon Ull Vincent as the battle against the Nephilim continues. I love the themes and the emotions rendered by these stories. I also enjoy the pop references scattered throughout.

The reader is really good at expressing the mood of the moment. He is a master of pacing. For instance, just when Solomon's heart is most likely beating wildly, Mr. Bray quickens the pace which enhances the excitement. He is also great at voicing multiple personalties as he did so masterfully in the Didymus Contingency (also by this author).

I wasn't sure about this series when I started it. I got it on sale. But I am very glad that I did since I have found another author that I really like. And I couldn't stop until I had read the entire series!

Amazing

I can't get over the perfect combination of folk lore, mythology, creativity and religion. That is infused in the very soul of these book's. Each book drives the passion, the faith and hope through every chapter giving wings to the listener. Enabling them to feel as though they too are Solomon aul the last hunter and with every explosive chapter we are able to control more of our own environments. Or perhaps we are enabling the book's power's to become greater and greater.

Great Series and easy listen...

Would you consider the audio edition of The Last Hunter - Lament to be better than the print version?

Both have it's merits. It is just easier to listen. Some listen to music while they work, I listen to books.

What did you like best about this story?

The adventure, the characters and the morality being exhibited. The judge of good character & heroism is based on the actions exhibited by the characters. Good & Evil is what they do, not what they say or believe.

Have you listened to any of R. C. Bray’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

No, this series is my first list of R.C. Bray.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

All the characters have personal conflict with good & evil; my favorite is Zen. He is struggling & has every reason to accept that he is evil and just let it take over. Will he? Read the last book and am pleased with the answer to that question.

Any additional comments?

What an amazing way to tell the story of evil vs good. Sometimes the easy road is just to let evil reign... but, this book shows that a choice for good may be hard and filled with roadblocks, but your not alone in that struggle & the reward is truly a miraculous thing.

Excellent continuation of the Series

Any additional comments?

This is another excellent installment in the series The Last Hunter. You can feel the intensity building in each book, and I can't wait to forge ahead to the last book and see how everything is resolved. The character development in these books is amazing, and of course the narration of R.C. Bray brings each and every character to life.

Wow. Just absolutely amazing!

What did you love best about The Last Hunter - Lament?

This book, as well as the series, isn't just one big thrill ride through the subterranean realms of Antarktos. Oh, trust me...it certainly has that. It's not just that every single character seems authentic and that you grow to care about them...though this is true as well. It's not just the incredible imagination of the author to connect the myths and legends of our world to the biblical Nephelim, which he does spendidly. No, there's something else. Something you don't see very often in fantasy adventure books...it has great heart. It tugs at your emotions as you cheer for the heroes. There is a tremendous amount of emotional depth and that's what I love about this book.

FYI, if I had to pick a second thing I love best about it...I'd have to say the narration. R.C. Bray has become one of my all time favorite narrators since starting this series. He didn't let me down at all with this book.

What about R. C. Bray’s performance did you like?

Bray is going places in the world of voice over work. He's an amazing talent. He draws you into the story and a movie truly does play within your head. His ability to perform different voices and accents paints a very vivid picture of every single character in the book. As I said in the first question, he's quickly becoming one of my favorite narrators out there.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Yes, yes, and yes. To all those questions. As I mentioned in the first question, this book has tremendous heart. It tugs at your emotional strings...whether joyfully or mournfully. You cannot listen to this book without feeling your throat tighten. You can't listen without laughing out loud in a few places. If you can do these things, I question whether your emotional well-being.

Any additional comments?

Do yourself a favor...if you listen to just one series on audiobook, let it be The Last Hunter series. You won't regret it.
