Publisher's summary

In humanity's last city, you're either consumed by a monster, or you become one.

Sheltered in their fortress city, the last humans live in constant peril, assailed from without by alien invaders and from within by a deadly disease intent on mutating every citizen. After her best friend’s grisly death at the segmented claws of the alien revenants, Ward Chief Iazmaena Delgassi vows to restore safety to her city by running for a magistrate position on the city council. For if the aliens ever truly penetrate the walls, humanity will lose itself to the jaws of the hungry beasts.

On the night of her hard-fought victory, Iaz finds her boyfriend dead by his own hand, his last message to her a warning. Now alerted to the conspiracy orchestrated by Gene Sequencing, a tyrannical government agency with no accountability and a monopoly on the disease's deadly secrets, Iaz forms a conspiracy of her own: a secret team to steal and decipher their restricted files. For reasons Iaz doesn't understand, Gene Sequencing is determined to destroy her.

Vowing to protect the city from threats both inside and out, Iaz must balance her duty with her desire for justice. If she fails at either task, humankind will be a thing of the past, just another extinct species.

Nail biting, dystopian story

An exciting story from Greg Little! The post apocalyptic, Sci fi world-within-a-city of Coldgarden is both familiar and entirely foreign, a dichotomy that has the listener belong both at home and wanting to know more. The Last Humans has a great central plot with twists you won't see coming and the threat of revenants around every corner. Greg's talent shines through in the world building, prose, and character building (realistic, flawed people that you wouldn't be surprised to meet on the street). I can't wait to listen to the next book in the series!

Listen to this or the Revenants will get you....

The Last Humans is a combination of sci-fi, horror and mystery that will encompass those who are lovers of any genre. The narration and writing are on a level of detail that immerse you into to the world with the fearless leader Iaz Delgassi and she and other must find common ground and ideals to solve some of the darkest secrets that this shadowesk government is hiding. This audiobook will have you on the edge as you try to solve the mysteries, but even when you seemingly have it all figured out the ending leaves you in shock with all that transpires. This is easily worth the purchase and if you have spare credits, this is a no question audiobook to have in your collection. Greg does an exemplary job with the writing and immersing you in the world, along with the details (even gruesome at times) of what is inside of it.

Great book

I really enjoyed this book. There's camouflage, there are jerks who refuse to work with the characters, there are cute kids, there is science, there are creatures that are smarter than you think, great characters: Good and Bad, there is a schedule to keep, and a twist.
