About this listen
What if the Antichrist has already been revealed? The first book in a gripping new series by best-selling authors Sigmund Brouwer and Hank Hanegraaff explores the lives of Christians who struggle to survive and spread the Gospel during the climactic turbulence of "the last days". With the enemy seeking to decipher the code of John's letter, Revelation, and destroy the church, believers must cling to the hope that Revelation provides as they face the greatest of all persecutions.
This is a spellbinding story of faith and fulfillment of prophecy. Discover the "code" of Revelation as you begin to see it through the eyes of the persecuted believers to whom it was written.

Story
Is there more to the Christian life than what you’re currently experiencing? Leading Christian apologist Hank Hanegraaff has dedicated his life to defending truth, because truth matters. However, his life and ministry were radically transformed by this three-word phrase: life matters more. In essence, Truth Matters, Life Matters More is two books in one. Because truth matters, Part 1 explicates the essentials of the Christian faith in a memorable way to equip listeners to communicate Christian truth.

Story
Breaking the code of the book of Revelation has become an international obsession. Hank Hanegraaff, president and chairman of the Christian Research Institute, believes the result has been rampant misreading of Scripture, bad theology, and even bad politics and foreign policy. Hanegraaff argues that the key to understanding the last book of the Bible is the other 65 books of the Bible—not current events or recent history, and certainly not any complicated charts.

In a world where evil seems to lurk around every corner and our thoughts turn to worry about our safety and security, the armor of God is our Father's protection in the fight against evils of our temporary home. Best-selling author Hank Hanegraaff describes God's protective covering over his children by dissecting Paul's words in Ephesians 6: 10-18 commanding us to put on the armor of God and "take our stand against the devil's schemes." Hanegraaff moves through the passage, phrase by phrase, defining God's armor, explaining what it means to embrace God's covering....

Able to create powerful magics with a mere wave of their hands, the Elantrians were able to heal mortal wounds and create any object they desired. But Elantris fell...10 years ago.

The narrator needs to learn how to pronounce "Chayim!" [but the book itself is great]
I bought this book when it first came out, and just got the audiobook in order to refresh my memory before the other 2 books in the series. [I really enjoyed it, and am not sure why other reviewers found the various threads to be so confusing...I thought it had good pacing and was easy to follow.]
The reason I decided to post a review, however, was that, while I'm normally pretty tolerant of a narrator (as far as pacing, ability [or lack-thereof] to do various voices, etc.), but it drives me crazy when a narrator doesn't take the time to learn how to pronounce words/names correctly, in the text they are reading.
The biggest offense in this audiobook (so far...I haven't finished it all the way, but this bugged me enough that I decided to write this review) is the narrator's HORRIBLE (and, sadly, very consistent) mispronunciation of the name "Chayim."
I'm not even Jewish (or Hebrew-speaking), and even I know that it is pronounced something close to "high-um," and NOT "chay-im," [as the narrator says, over and over and over again].
The repeated mispronounciation of that name/ word (which means "life" in Hebrew) was like fingernails on the chalkboard, every time I heard it.
It really blows my mind that so many "professional" narrators fall into this same error anytime they encounter words other than English. I would've assumed that prior to recording a book, all names & foreign words would be researched for proper pronunciation, but given how frequently I've seen this issue occur in audiobooks, it's obviously not being done.
SMH...

Story moves a little slow to start. But still good
I liked how this story presented a different than normal end times view, while still keeping the story line relevant. The beginning of the story moves slow but picks up by the end for a good story.

a window into first century Christianity
it took a chapter for me to get into it. i think it was mainly due to the larger number of character stories. but I left the book for a few months, and when I came back to it, I was really drawn in to the time period and the characters. having finished, I am now eager to read the next book in the series.
