About this listen

BOOK 3 OF "LIVING A MEANINGFUL LIFE

"The Lake: Living A Meaningful Life, is the third book of the epic book series, Living A Meaningful Life, a series for adults and teens of all ages. Each book examines the challenges involved with facing the harsh realities of life, and rising above them despite setbacks, mistakes, losses, and other negative circumstances.

In this, the most dramatic installment of the series yet, the main character is challenged like never before. After suffering what he feels is a devastating catastrophic blow to his future, he turns to his mentors who must inspire him to rise up from the ashes, and meet his full potential so that he may fulfill his destiny. The Lake will leave you truly inspired to face your own life challenges, and will help you realize that you CAN overcome anything if you believe in yourself and ‘do the right things.’ Prepare to laugh and cry along the way, and feel your soul renewed and inspired by the end of the book.

Through its down-to-Earth, emotional, and touching storylines, the series shows the importance of developing self-empowerment, and a person’s own deep character, through mentors, self-work, and ‘soul-families.’ The main theme is that of always ‘doing the right things,’ as a way of living a meaningful life. All installments within this series feature characters of all ages, from children to elderly adults. The series is neutral on religion and politics. There are tears of sadness, tears of joy, and lots of laughs. This is a series that changes lives.

Book #3, The Lake, is the installment where the main character transforms from a teenage child to a highly dynamic teenage young adult. This installment is a major turning-point in his life. His destiny is decided in this installment, but he doesn’t know it yet.

Astounds once again!

No one writes quite as intimately as author Brian Hunter. Connecting readers so intensely with his narrator as we feel what it is like to be a model adolescent.

In this third installment in the Living a Meaningful Life series, we are headed to the lake for summer camp. As old faces and new enter this story we are once again reminded of the gentle and caring spirit that navigates us through these books, from his inner most thoughts, to his outermost actions, our lead character is a young man we can all learn a thing or two from. Hunter has an indelible way of connecting his readers to his main character. From the embarrassment, hurt, feelings of failure, and pride in doing the right thing, we feel everything alongside our unnamed narrator.

Hunter brings back Frank and Eric from “The Farm” while also introducing us to new role models and camp leaders, even providing a full circle moment as we return to the bench from the park detailed within the aptly titled installment, “The Bench.” Despite the sheer volume of reads in this series, Hunter does a great job of weaving a connection throughout as he builds upon each book, each lesson, and each encounter.

Reading more like a life’s memoir, each book encapsulates a pivotal experience in a young man’s life. The Living a Meaningful Life series houses monumental learning experiences for living a better life and being a better friend. “The Lake” once again teaches us an important lesson, one we can all learn from, while showing us what it means to take responsibility and learn from our mistakes.

Hunter astounds once again in this third installment in his riveting, engrossing, and beautiful series.
