Publisher's summary

The Unveiling, The Yielding, and The Redeeming introduced listeners to the formidable Wulfrith family during Duke Henry's battle for the English throne and his succession. The Kindling, the fourth book in the Age of Faith series, is the story of Sir Abel, the youngest and, perhaps, most dangerous of the Wulfrith brothers.

"'Tis said family creates a multitude of sins."

Helene of Tippet is not her father or her brother's keeper. Yet when she is enlisted to use her healing skills to aid a fallen knight, the secret she holds close threatens to visit her family's sins upon her. Now she is in danger of loving where she should not - a man of the nobility, and one who has cause to despise her if ever he learns of the blood that courses through her veins. Dare she reveal herself? Dare she trust a warrior so bitter and intent on revenge? Dare she love?

Sir Abel Wulfrith, a man bred to battle, has the scar to prove one should never trust a woman. But when he is wounded by his family's enemy, he finds himself at the mercy of one who could prove his undoing. Now he faces a battle against which no strategy can prevail, no blade can defend, no heart can escape unscathed. Can he forgive Helene the sins of the father - more, the sins of the brother? Can he reclaim his faith? Can he love?

Another good installment, slightly simpler but enjoyable

There weren’t quite as many great battles as the other in the series. But it was still enjoyable and clean easy read. Performance on the audiobook was nice as usual.

Wow, just Wow!!! Story in a story in a story

Helene & Abel’s story is shared with many other’s. Abel’s growth both physically and mentally to which he owes Helene. Sir Durand & his growth due to change from playboy to man because of Helene. We get to see a village with a man so desirous to wed a woman, and when she refuses points his finger at her & names her a witch. For which death is the only way to define one’s guilt or innocence from such a charge. The village chasing her down. The new & improved Sir Duran & Sir Abel coming to her rescue. The story of a couple in that village, one with enough wits to see clearly and help the witch with her child. the other with the wits to know what’s going to happen to the two of them from associating with the witch, and wants to kill Helene over it. And little John (no relation to Robin Hood) who sees as all children see, the best!

Redemption

I love this addition to the Age of Faith series. Abel is not one of my favorite people, but by the end of the book I see him as a big teddy bear. a warrior yes, buy also soft and lovable on the inside.

Ever it was you..,

I don’t like to write spoilers, so that is all I am to say upon the words that moved me and I hope will do the same for you.

This series has has been a nail biting ride that won’t be put down for fear of what the plot holds next! I have used the buy 3 credits twice this month, which is above my limit per month that I allow myself to indulge. I can’t wait to start the next book, my sorrow is great for I will have completed it way too soon.

Enthralling!

This book from the original "Age of Faith" series is not to be missed. It is one of my favorites and is listened to often, due to my affection for this imaginary family called the Wulfriths. I'm an avid fan of medieval romance, and no one does it better, than Tamara Leigh. The story is clean, exciting, chilling in parts, suspenseful and endearing. It has everything a person could want in a story about the days of oaths, swords, castles and knights. Well deserving of a credit or other payment source.

The Kindling

It took me some time to get into this audiobook, not because of the narration—I think the narration is superb. But the story was not very captivating; it was not bad but I did find myself drifting at times and then needing to refocus so I could pay attention to what the narrator was saying.

I don't like it when a book is supposed to be a romance but severely lacks in that department, or when the story is formulaic. Abel and Helene were adults, and I felt that their situation could have been worked through without the standard formula of boy meets girl, boy falls in love with girl, boy and girl have disagreement, boy and girl don't work out disagreement until the book is almost about to end.

I love Christian fiction, and especially Christian romance, but it seems as if most—not all—don't know how to write a great romance without this standard formulaic setup. And if you are wondering whether you should purchase this audiobook, I would say yes to those who love their romances like this and no to those who don't. Remember when I said it was not bad? Well it's not. I just expected more.

Tamara Leigh is a very good author who writes beautiful stories. I will be purchasing other books by her. But The Kindling left me wanting more and definitely had me expecting more than I got.
