About this listen

In the grip of a grief-fueled wanderlust after the death of her Earthly husband, Lady Karenina of Ruain — Nina to family and friends — escapes into unfamiliar lands, a harsh and distant country peopled with enigmatic characters: the Leviathan, the Nomad, the Outcast, and the Wolf. In their company she finds adventure, danger, champions, and rogues — some of the latter worth killing, but at least one worth loving.

Continue the family saga that began in the Waterspell fantasy quartet (Warlock, Wysard, Wisewoman, Witch). Follow the further adventures of eldest daughter Nina in The Karenina Chronicles.

From the Publisher: Chronologically fifth in the Waterspell fantasy series, The Karenina Chronicles is a standalone story which is fully accessible to readers who have no knowledge of the previous four books. This entry in the series can be approached as an introduction to the Waterspell universe.

This book was written and narrated by humans.

Learning of Nina’s Adventures as this Waterspell Daughter Returns Home

This first, I hope of another Waterspell Series, was simply too short. New characters are introduced, but the story ended too quickly. Wonderful interactions with the new cast as an adult Nina travels distant paths to meet grown brothers and other family. Artfully woven tale leaves me wanting the story to continue!

Different vibe from the original series

This book follows the bratty girl from book 4 in her self-rightious adult life as she travels her rapist-rife homelands with her savior complex righting all the wrongs. It's quite boring compared to the original series.

I am not a fan of the narrator either. The gratuitous use of the intrusive "r" makes the character Nina "Ninar" throughout the story. I found this particularly distracting.
