Publisher's summary

An accessible guide to the life and teachings of the Jesus of the Gospels.

The Jesus of the Gospels brings together the best elements of a survey of the Gospels and a commentary on the Gospels to help listeners know Jesus and understand the good news.

Drawing on decades of experience teaching and writing on the Gospels, Andreas Köstenberger presents a holistic portrait of Jesus by leading listeners through an in-depth study of Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John. Each chapter explores one Gospel account, beginning with a short introduction that highlights the Gospel's individual distinctives, followed by an outline of the book.

Köstenberger breaks each Gospel into short sections, explaining the meaning and how it sheds light on Jesus and his mission. In addition to helping listeners follow the storyline and theology of each Gospel, Köstenberger also emphasizes practical application, showing readers how to apply what they're learning to their lives.

Ideal for those who are new to the study of the Gospels, and for instructors looking for an accessible introduction based on solid scholarship, The Jesus of the Gospels offers listeners and students a valuable introduction to the riches of the Gospels and leads them to a deeper knowledge of Jesus and the good news.

The Jesus of the Gospels

An Introduction.
Accessible. A treasure trove of learning and teaching.
There are few other resources that bring one to know the Jesus of the Gospels in such a personal way.
The format has been ideal for this listener and the citations were a bonus. (Some may wish there were fewer, however, this learner has been desperate for exactly this type of thing. Also, what repetition is imbedded in the overlap is how this listener learns best. This was a pleasant surprise in learning about my own learning. A good surprise.)

P.S
The narration by Mr. George W. Sarris was well-suited for this listener. Other listeners will be pleased with Mr. Sarris' peaceful even tones.

I don't know if it makes a difference, but I did not receive a free promotional copy of this audio, however, as a purchaser, I was 5-star satisfied and have written a review today (i think my first entire listen-through was completed ~ last week. thank you!)

A terrific summary

Jesus is well presented here. My only critique, and it’s minor, is the repetitious use of citation throughout. Now I very much appreciated the calling out of each citation as it was covered in the narrative but throughout are hierarchical subtitles and citations that really interrupted the flow of the narrative (for me). I suspect the book would be hours shorter if each citation listed were only mentioned once, where it occurs. That aside, the book is a fabulous work.
