Publisher's summary
Achieve your dream of retiring abroad while on a budget.
The International Living Guide to Retiring Overseas on a Budget provides a detailed guide to one of the least known but most effective retirement strategies in today's chaotic economic environment: retiring abroad. The premise is simple: Enjoy a happier, healthier, more fulfilling retirement than you could possibly afford in the US or Canada by finding the right overseas retirement haven. The audiobook reveals those affordable havens and the strategies for successfully making the move that could save your retirement. Aimed at retirees and near-retirees in the US and Canada, this audiobook's strategies apply just as well to younger people and people with families who are looking for ways to improve their quality of life while at the same time lowering their cost of living. It includes solutions for the challenges of continuing to work and earn money abroad, too.
As longtime contributors to the acknowledged leader in the field, International Living, authors Suzan Haskins and Dan Prescher have at their disposal more than 30 years of International Living experience and expertise in the topic. They've been writing about living overseas for more than 12 years and have created their own broad and deep body of work, including regular blogs on the topic for Huffington Post and AARP. The authors include information and strategies that can be successfully applied by anyone regardless of their political or economic opinions. For anyone who wants a happier, healthier, more affordable life, The International Living Guide to Retiring Overseas on a Budget shows you how to enjoy the romance and excitement of living abroad on an affordable budget.

For nearly 70 years, the suburbs were as American as apple pie. But in recent years things have started to change. An epic housing crisis revealed existing problems with this unique pattern of development, while the steady pull of long-simmering economic, societal and demographic forces has culminated in a Perfect Storm that has led to a profound shift in the way we desire to live. In The End of the Suburbs journalist Leigh Gallagher traces the rise and fall of American suburbia from the stately railroad suburbs that sprung up outside American cities in the 19th and early 20th centuries to current-day sprawling exurbs.

Great overall, but focused on Latin America
The authors seem to have experience mostly in Latin America, as nearly every personal example or assumption they make about culture, language, or customs is based on people from Canada or the US moving to Mexico, thd Caribbean, Central or Sourh America. If you are interested in other regions there are still many helpful suggestions, but you have to get past a lot of extra detail.
Great Audible narration, even tricky bits like explaining the difference between an expatriate and an ex-patriot.

Informative, Helpful Audiobook
This book is packed with helpful information and specifics on retiring overseas. I found a lot of good information in this audiobook and the authors did a good job of sharing the information in a logical, easy-to-follow format. I've listened to several audio books on the subject of relocating overseas, and this one was very helpful and interesting. I almost didn't buy this book because of some bad reviews I read and the intro section. Ignore the bad reviews, I'm not sure what they are listening to, but I certainly found this audiobook worth your time if you are interested in moving to another country.

Great motivator!
This was a great book. But is a bit outdated in some areas now. I didn’t lower the rating for that though.
The book really covers all the aspects of retiring abroad. And where they don’t go into detail they provide websites where you can get more detail.
It is probably just out of date with regard to housing prices and technologies like Skype, Vonage and other VoIP apps they mention that are not the common ones used today.
