A gem hidden in history

If your are black, hebrew, or simply a person of faith, then this book is a must read. To see gods Providence and mighty hand at work. To pull a hellanistic Hebrew from his culture simply so he can learn of the Love of Yahoshua is pure love from the father.

Eloquent and informative

This is an excellent narrative and point of view of life in the late 1700's. The reading too, is exceptional.

Surprisingly Interesting

I really got swept up in this story. I had no idea it was going to read like an adventure novel.

A Historical Treasure

Not only was Olaudah Equiano's life story astonishing, heart wrenching, horrific, beautiful and filled with faith, hope and industry, it was also an extremely rare first hand accounting of a free African, turned slave, cleverly freed man. Most African slaves were recorded in U.S. census records during slavery times only by their age, skin color and gender, with no hope of further information about their lives. Olaudah's writing and life events were so interesting that I visualized it like a high adventure television mini series. His faith was inspiring. His bravery and self respect were absolutely astounding in the face of extreme adversity. And the villains he continually contend with made me cringe for humankind. I highly recommend this book and believe it should be required high school reading!

This is an excellent biography. I believe every person who calls themselves a Christian should take the time to listen to this compelling life. The narrator did an excellent job!
