About this listen

How do you rid the Earth of seven billion humans? Rid the humans of their humanity.

Surviving the first four waves was nearly impossible. Now Cassie Sullivan finds herself in a new world, a world in which the fundamental trust that binds us together is gone. As the 5th Wave rolls across the landscape, Cassie, Ben, and Ringer are forced to confront the Others' ultimate goal: the extermination of the human race.

Cassie and her friends haven't seen the depths to which the Others will sink, nor have the Others seen the heights to which humanity will rise, in the ultimate battle between life and death, hope and despair, love and hate.

Editorial reviews

Editors Select, September 2014 - To say "we’re excited about this one" would be an understatement. The sequel to Rick Yancey’s best-selling, YA alien invasion epic, The Fifth Wave, has everyone on our team – from editors to VPs – buzzing (in fact two of us decided to get behind this one jointly!). In a literary landscape soaked with teen dystopian thrillers, the world Yancey created is a cut above. His multiple perspectives round out the unique world he has created, and his portrayal of Cassie – the teen heroine – is beyond believable (and unbelievable when you note she was written by a male author!) If you haven’t gotten on the Rick Yancey bandwagon, we recommend you do so now – you don’t want to miss out. Audible Editors, Chris and Emily

"Heart-pounding pacing, lyrical prose and mind-bending twists ... "(The New York Times Book Review)

An interesting twist

Another fabulous story in the series. One of the plot lines I loved from The 5th Wave carried on in The Infinite Sea. Though, there was a twist near the end I wasn't expecting. The narration was fabulous with the characters differentiated enough for me not to get confused. I look forward to listening to the next book in the series.

Surprising

Normally don't like dual Narrators but they did a very good job. Well written and nicely paced with a few twists and turns.

First book is better.

Story line is not as good as the first book. It seemed a little anti climactic especially toward the end.

Too sappy for my taste..

I read a lot of fantasy books but this one is way too cheesy and sappy. performance was ok but I didn't really like the story.

now thats how you write book 2 of a trilogy

After the first book I was expecting the normal average book 2, but was surprised by this one. it is actually a good book, almost could stand on its own.

Glad more of Ringer in this book. I did enjoy her in the first book. There is more character building in this book so they become very real. There is some plot prep for final book but mostly just a continuation of book 1.

enjoyable book, hope the final is as good.

are we so arrogant to believe we are alone. dont

are we so arrogant to believe we are alone, and if another civilization was facing extinction we would think twice about taking their planet? We are barely out of apehood. I look at this cell phone everyday and shake my head
we are so weak.

sarcasm

it should be an awesome store if it wasn't for all the sarcasm the characters have!
