About this listen

For John, death was merely the beginning.

After saying goodbye to his life on earth, he never expected to find a brand new world still awaiting for him.

One where immortals flew through the clouds and ancient evils hid below the surface.

One where fables, myths, and legends filled every corner.

One where he could finally start anew.

Now, however, John is about to learn a valuable lesson, for any place humanity rules will always be the same - a domain where sin and ambition can only be tamed by power.

Will he have the strength to walk this road on his own or will he be unable to heal the old wounds hidden deep within his heart?

Find out by listening to The Idle System

This book contains a story of self-discovery, ambition, and revenge. Inspired by classical LitRPG and Xianxia, it's a new take on the genres. Containing romance without harem elements, The Idle System isn't a novel for the weak of heart, but one for those enamored with planetary-levels of destruction. If the aforementioned tropes are to your taste, don't hesitate to buy this bundle.

This volume contains the first four novels in The Idle System series: The New Journey, The Rogues, The Birth and The Sins, all of which are available separately.

A great buy, 4 stories for the price of 1 credit

Not very, but it sure does help if you put in the effort while you wait to gain it with the Idle System. Pegaz takes inspiration from the common tropes and mechanisms of the idle games a lot of people play. While that sounds simple, the way they've weaved them into the story without making it boring is pretty skilled. I originally started reading / listening to book 1 unsure how to feel about an idle game system. However i was enthralled by everything John has to go through to gain power. Granted he didn't HAVE to do those things, but he chose to make the best use of his time. Which is extra funny when your entire story revolves around "time passing = power gained" . Book 2 sees the continuation after John reaches the age of 21 and can finally ascend into immortality. After the events of book 1 i wasn't expecting any romance in the story and i was right not to. He is rather selfish in his pursuit of power, and to make the best use of his time he joins a sect of assassins. His masterful use of his system once more comes into play as he figures out how to give himself the best of everything. Book 3 continues from when John runs into an annoying woman, and suddenly my earlier beliefs get thrown out the window! But that's ok, because it's not the overdone cliches that i'm already tired of. Book 4 shows us insanity, pure insanity in the pursuit of help for someone else. Pegaz did a wonderful job keeping me guessing in most of these books, and I look forward to the next 4 books!

pretty good newbie writer.

as a newbie writer I think this individual did very well. I have finished all four books about starting the 5th. The only thing that really irks me about this whole series is instead of saying the ground they say the floor. I think they're well worth the credits.

One of the best mc

OMG i love how the mc acts he is not one of the pussy who is afraid of killing or just having a harem of girls. This is a believable story which is amazing because of how overpowering the mc is. I love how the time is. it is unreasonable for someone to become overpowered in a number of days I am so happy that it takes him years and months. The time skips are done smoothly and they skip most of the grinding aspect which gets too repetitive. This is one of the best books 100% would recommend.

Rough start, but we'll worth the listen!

First of all, I absolutely loved the series! The beginning of the series is very hard to listen to. It was pretty poorly written, but it is absolutely worth pushing through. At times the main character is very over powered, but with weaknesses too.

Decent Novels

As someone who puts a lot of stock in length of a novel, I'm rating this box set 5*. However, each individual novel would only be about 4*, or 3* if length was factored in.

The first book has about 1 paragraph of introduction before the main character, John, dies and is reincarnated into the LitRPG setting the story takes place. As a reader I felt as confused as John was supposed to be. Maybe it was intentional, but it wasn't something I enjoyed.

John has a tendency to be overpowered in his dealings. He usually is a glass canon immune to damage depending on where his progression is. I won't explain what I mean by that; read (listen to) the books. The author tries to address this in later novels. I still consider him overpowered.

There are often very large numbers that don't add up. Most of this is fixed in the later novels. For example if killing 300,000 creatures 1 at a time, it should take more than a few hours especially with breaks factored in. There are only 86,000 seconds in a day. At one point over 25 quadrillion items are a factor, and if I recall correctly it took 1 million people 4 weeks to process. That equates to over 10,000 units per second for each person to process if going nonstop. Nevertheless, I doubt many people will be bothered if math doesn't always line up.

Suspension of disbelief required

One of the things critical to enjoy this series is an extreme suspension of disbelief. now. this is a fantasy genre and so suspension of disbelief is the basic requirement. but this particular series requires an extreme suspension of disbelief. but if you can get over that part then the story itself is actually quite funny and enjoyable.

Absolutely fantastic!

I bought this because I was between series at the moment, and when I saw it was a book set I was really not expecting much, but I was absolutely wrong. this book series has been one of the best litrpg style books I've read yet to date. just great!
