About this listen
Scottish pride, persuasion, and passion - this is Highland romance at its breathtaking best.
Young and feisty, Eleanor has been raised as a stable hand at Ingledew castle, unaware of her royal ancestry and the dangerous plans the Lord of Ingledew has for her. When she is sent to Scotland to be groomed as a princess and forced to wed King George, she takes advantage of an opportunity to escape, disguising herself as a boy.
In the Highlands of Scotland lives Keir McKelvey, betrothed against his wishes to the haughty daughter of a rival clan. Keir is deep into the political plan to dethrone King George when he meets the disguised Eleanor. Her convincing impersonation of an English lad fools him and he compels her—thinking she’s a he—back into the center of the murderous royal plot.
Eleanor falls in love with the Highlander, but revealing her sex and her true identity could thwart everyone’s plans. Escaping again will cost her the crown, but staying will lead to her execution. And either choice means never seeing the Highlander again. How can there possibly be a happy ending? Click on the buy button and find out.
★★★★★ A clean romance that takes you to the edge of passion and leaves the steam to your imagination.

Story
Cainnech (Cain) MacPherson's hatred for the English was born when he was a lad of seven, the day they raided his village and killed his family. They took everything from him without mercy and tossed him onto the battlefield, where the memory of love faded to dust and left nothing in its wake but violence. Now, as Robert the Bruce's most formidable, most lethal warrior, he wreaks havoc on his enemy, taking land by force, without mercy. But when he raids a small castle in Northumberland, he faces his greatest opponent yet - a bold, beautiful Norman lass who will see him dead at any cost.

But when tragedy leaves her a widow twice over, Adair realizes that her already tenuous social position has sunk even lower. Story
A series of stepfathers and a difficult childhood have left Fletcher “Grey” Pryde, fifth duke of Greycourt, with a guarded heart, enviable wealth, and the undeserved reputation of a rogue. Grey’s focus on expanding his dukedom allows him little time to find a wife. But when his mother is widowed yet again and he meets the charmingly unconventional woman managing his stepfather’s funeral, he’s shocked to discover how much they have in common. Still, Grey isn’t interested in love, no matter how pretty, or delightfully outspoken, the lady....

not bad
The virtual voice lacks the ability to give proper inflection in the dialogue, which I found to be distracting. The narration also would have sounded better if the characters accents existed. The story itself was decent enough, some unpredictability to it, but also some predictability.

I personally did not like the AI narration. it did not have all words pronounced correctly. it did not have enough voice inflections. I probably will avoid books narrated with AI in the future.

Virtual Voice
Story line great, lends to following/additional family stories.
Unfortunately the AI virtual voice is not “natural” but very stilted, stiff, and not capable of performing different voices and inflections for multiple sexes and emotions

A Murderous Royal Plot
Sweet Scottish historical romance. I haven't heard any virtual voice narration that compares to the vocal variety of
a professional. However, this one
was among the better ones.
