Took em long enough

It’s fine, but for how long it took them to make this, I was hoping for more. It introduces you to a character for one of the great leagues, shows you the relationship the kin have towards each other, and sets up a future plot.

Slow start, but a fine story

Bit of a slow start but gets going towards the middle. If like me you want to know more about that League's society and thoughts, it is 5/5. if you want story about the kin, 3/5. they aren't bad but aren't that compelling.

great start for the kin

This is a slow burn, but that's perfect for introducing lore for the votann. characters are likable, dark and fun moments to be had. Great book!

Slow start but great ending

The beginning felt a bit slow to me. However, once it picks up momentum, it turn out amazing. I would definitely recommend this book. The end left me wanting more.

The dwarfs sing

Singing appears to be a kinda core to the Kin’s moral and that’s incredibly based

Rock and Stone.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. Given the rating that does come with a caveat or two but truth be told if you're looking for a good introduction to the new 40K faction or you're just looking for a good dwarf book this is a good pick, go do be warned it does have a very slow start to the book.
The good and the bad: I appreciated how the book really didn't treat you like a child, what I mean by this is that is the books writer respected my intelligence enough to assume that I would be able to figure out slang terms from the in universe setting on My own by their use. it is to be noted though that because of this the two different terms used as descriptions of time are a little confusing I still don't fully understand if they are the same measurement or different measurements but from how they're described they found different but exactly how long those times are is something that might just be confusing me.
The secondary font also feels less than developed it's not bad and overall is a fun part of the book but it feels like it's padding for the main story and in and of itself could have been told at the end of the book as like hey what were you doing during all this and whatnot again it's fun it I have some issues with it but nothing worth writing all about.
and lastly they tied up all the loose ends all of the loose ends that were apart of the call to action as well as thrown in for the rest of the book were answered at least as part of the book that you can easily describe goes and the Italian for a sequel was not a loose end they never tied up it was a new thing it was the answer to a question that was asked by the book of its universe.
I would like to reiterate that I did thoroughly enjoy this book but I do believe I've been spoiled in my reading choices due to a certain other things that I've read and how much I've enjoyed them including the narration was not bad but I've been overtly spoiled by another book series and how it's audiobooks are almost treated like audio dramas. again I would very much recommend this book and I did enjoy it even if this review is a little rambly.

WE'RE RICH

What a fantastic story for the League's of Votann! I give the narrator props for singing (and doing a darn good job of it) at one part of the book, but I might have shot myself in the foot by listening to a Johnathan Keeble book before this one because in comparison her own narration didn't quite measure up. Still good, perfectly serviceable, but I've grown used to excellent which isn't necessarily to say that she did a bad job, far from it, but there was just something missing from the narrator's performance to me. Story wise and character wise however - HOOOBOY, we eating good here!! I'm glad to see the League's done so well for their first major book, it was fascinating to see the rise of a brand new High Kâhl in the Trans Hyperian League, and her very close relationship with her Ironkin Navigator was heartwarming to listen to (my heart melted a little everytime he called her his "Jewel Star"). All in all, this is a must read for any League fan, and a highly recommended book by me for any fan of 40k in general! Here's to the Opportunity this book creates for future League books!

A good ending doesn’t make up for the rest of the book

This book started off okay then quickly fell off. Kyn terminology was not explained, history was barely touched on, and was extremely slow. This book could have easily been 5 hours to end up where it did. For being the first LoV book we deserved more lore to prop up the story. The main character was not a bad one, she was honestly interesting just felt half hearted in the character development. The end of the book was the best part, with a huge battle and a predictable twist. I found myself having to rewind the audiobook multiple times cause I found myself zoning out cause the story wasn’t engaging. Hopefully the next Leagues of Votann book explains more about the history of the Kyn. Hope this helps readers on the ropes about listening this and make up their own mind.
