About this listen

From number one New York Times best-selling author Brandon Sanderson, the Mistborn series is a heist story of political intrigue and magical, martial-arts action.

Who is the Hero of Ages?

To end the Final Empire and restore freedom, Vin killed the Lord Ruler. But as a result, the Deepness - the lethal form of the ubiquitous mists - is back, along with increasingly heavy ashfalls and ever more powerful earthquakes. Humanity appears to be doomed.

Having escaped death at the climax of The Well of Ascension only by becoming a Mistborn himself, Emperor Elend Venture hopes to find clues left behind by the Lord Ruler that will allow him to save the world. Vin is consumed with guilt at having been tricked into releasing the mystic force known as Ruin from the Well. Ruin wants to end the world, and its near omniscience and ability to warp reality make stopping it seem impossible. She can't even discuss it with Elend, lest Ruin learn their plans!

The conclusion of the Mistborn trilogy fulfills all the promise of the first two books. Revelations abound, connections rooted in early chapters of the series click into place, and surprises, as satisfying as they are stunning, blossom like fireworks to dazzle and delight. It all leads up to a finale unmatched for originality and audacity that will leave listeners shaking their heads in wonder, as if awaking from an amazing dream.

This just became my favorite series

In my opinion, may or may not be a valid one... the Mistborn trilogy is amazing, awesome in its raw power of entertainment, intrigue and drama.
I just finished reading the series and I’m barely holding myself together. It’s like saying goodby to an old friend, tears are trying to force themselves out, but my overwhelmed heart seems to keep everything in.
All in all I recommend this book with all my aching heart to anybody who wants a real, visceral, amazing and complex experience. The way this book compelled me to keep reading and the way it diverted my attention away from the simple answers to all of its secrets is astounding. Well done. And from the bottom of my soul... thank you. Reading this was an honor.

Saddest day of my life

When I was six years old my dying father told me he wishes he could share a last ice cream with me. My mother stricken with grief and working 2 jobs to keep us three boys alive had little patience for such indulgences. So I did chores for the neighbors; mowing lawns and sweeping drive ways. Finally I saved up enough to buy two choc chip soft serves ice-creams and walked back home. Just as I entered our yard our dog darted closer and knocked me off my feet, sending the ice creams flying. Crying with a broken heart I walked into the house barely managing the utter the words to my father that we won't have that last moment together.

That will still not as heart breaking as finishing this book series.

A great conclusion to a great trilogy

This series is something else, I think. Off all the fantasy I've read, none have manged to balance the fantastical and the real in a way that it feel so believable and fleshed out. In addition, I had no problems understanding who of all the the great characters were talking with such a good narration. I'm also glad there was a finality to it, with no cliffhangers, but still left space for more stories in this amazing universe Brandon Sanderson has created.

Mind blown.

What made the experience of listening to The Hero of Ages the most enjoyable?

I was reluctant to start reading this series but by the time I got to the final book I had been binging for days. I found the entire book unexpectedly philosophical and the ending was such a surprise I had to sit down and focus just to take it all in. I do hope someone signs a movie deal with Sanderson soon...

What was one of the most memorable moments of The Hero of Ages?

The whole thing. Starting at book one.

What aspect of Michael Kramer’s performance would you have changed?

He was a little dreamy. At some points he lost me.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Yes! It made me want to make everyone I know and their dog read it.

Any additional comments?

Brilliant. Just brilliant.

A journey I never thought I'll experience

(Spoiler Free): The whole trilogy makes a perfect story. The whole building up makes alot of sense, alot of beautiful mixed with sad moments. It was very emotional and changes alot within couple of chapters. Something I never felt before in reading a book... I felt I was growing? with the story. The more I go on, the more my mind keep expanding about the universe the writer has built, it keeps connecting more and more. Very well balanced and interesting characters. The world is very weird and filled with mystery. It was epic.

Brandon Sanderson, Thank you for this great story. I am still amazed how you were able to tell such story in an organized thoughts without jump-cutting around random ideas. Can't wait to tap on your other books now.

The narrator: Oh boy that was amazing. Where can I start... Some moments are still engraved in my mind because of the great voice acting. I was able to feel that moment and it was magnificent! Each character was very distinctive and momerable that at one point you'll know who's talking without actually hearing the name. Excellent performance that added alot of depth to the Epic journey.
