About this listen

A lazy and wussy ex-gamer, Phil becomes one of the few humans who receive a mysterious alien piece of wetware that allows them to see the world through an augmented-reality interface very similar to those used in an MMORPG game. Guided by its stats and messages, Phil begins to level up, gradually transforming himself and his life. He even opens his own business in order to help his friends and complete strangers who acquire a newfound respect for him, assisting him in his travails.

As Phil continues on the road to self-improvement, guided by his own conscience rather than system messages, he tries to find out more about the mysterious third party that has bestowed such superhuman abilities upon him.

GET BACK TO THE MUNDANE DETAILS!

at first you may think you'd get tired of hearing about thongs like the daily exercise or him helping people find jobs and yet when they go to the more fantastical things I find myself on edge waiting to find out if that kid learned to swim.

Interesting premise - enjoyed Book 1 more

I enjoyed Book 1 more than Book 2.
Perhaps because of the novelty of premise of the idea.
Living life as though it was /is a RPG.

Great book

I think this book was great a unique blending of multiple concepts, it also makes you look at character development and personal development differently. The only problem I had with this book was the translation, I felt like some of the words that were used may have been translated incorrectly or they used a version or meaning that did not fit the sentence that it was being used in at the time. I think that due to this, it didn't allow for a 100% translation nor did it convey what the author was trying to impart to the Listener. Apart from that it was a great book and concept. I'm looking forward to the next one in the series.

it really shouldn't be as entertaining as it is

Somehow it's a very compelling story despite the fact that it's mostly about normal life.

second half of the book improved it

At first, I was disappointed that the main character seemed to be wasting his gift on inconsequential job finding for a few dozen people in a poor Russian village. I'm glad I kept listening. He gets more ambitious as the story progresses.

Enjoyable real life LitRPG

I enjoyed listening to this one just as much as the first book. I'll be interested to see where the story goes from here. I felt that the narrator was a good match for this audiobook.

Continues to be interesting and well written

I'm really liking book 2. It's an interesting concept and the author has done a good job creating this universe. There are lots of branches for the story line and the characters are interesting. I'm looking forward to book 3.

Russian life is brutal

I had no idea it was full of thugs, gangs, and absolutely every person smokes and drinks.

The idea here was a good one but the execution was interrupted by scenes of boxing, gambling, and addictions. I wanted more alien story. What's more, there's no third book and this was 2019. It leaves us hang at the end in the middle of a contest.

Plenty of sexism.

Level up series is ok.... disgardium is far better

Level up took me few hrs to get into however the disgardium series was by far a instant favorite. Still after getting into the start up series story line im anxious for the next books in the series.
