Shining and something else I can’t put my finger on! But it was a good listen! I liked it a lot.

Quick and fun jaunt

The Handyman Method is a fun horror jaunt in the style of early Stephen King with lots of body horror and jump scares.

I wasn’t ready for this level of gore.

I’m a newer fan of Nick Cutter, but I know he’s masterful in his ability to paint a horrifying picture. But this one… wow. I’m giving the story 4 stars, but only because there are familiar troupes taken from The Shining. But this is completely worth the listen. You don’t want to pause. You also want so badly at the end to stop it to get a break from the horrifying mental scenes.

Uniquely Horrifying

Nick Cutter has a way with prose that make his tales beautiful in their carnage.

I was on the fence about listening to this but I'm just glad I did. It was very good and different from normal stories.

Disturbing & entertaining!

This felt like such a quick read; perhaps because I blasted through it in only a couple days time while working through slow shifts. I will ALWAYS recommend the Nick Cutter/ Corey Brill combo! I feel like his narration style and voice perfectly compliment Cutter’s characters and descriptions.

The horror i was anticipating in this book blasted through my expectations. It has a very relatable premise, characters that feel real, several TRULY sickening scenes that had me pausing and covering my mouth in disgust. It’s what ive come to appreciate about Cutter’s works: long, drawn out, viscerally horrifying descriptions of bad things happening to beings that could never deserve it. I’m not a splatterpunk fan, but it’s nice to get a taste of some gut-wrenching gore woven into a greater, emotional story.

A perfect middle ground for people who want more than just chills and ghosts in their horror, but don’t want a constant barrage of blood and guts. I’d recommend this to any horror fan.

this was ok

Wasn't as scary as expected, but definitely had a creepy aspect. The end dragged on and I struggled through the last 3ish chapters.

Great but Short

This kept my interest till the end. I like that it wasn't your typical horror story. The Troop is one of my favorite books, so I was excited for this to come out, tho it was a little too short. I just don't understand what the hell Cutter has against turtles? What did they ever do to him? Spoiler alert: This is the second time he's traumatized me with a long, tortuous turtle death.

Not Cutter’s Best

Rather boring compared to Cutter’s other works. I appreciate him trying something new, but too many threads are laid and not picked up, and the ending isn’t nearly as ambiguous as I’d prefer. The narrator is fabulous though, as he always is when reading Cutter’s books.
