Publisher's summary

They're not kids anymore.

Just when he starts to get his act together, Mansur wakes to an empty bed and a crying baby. His wife leaves him with their infant on the day he starts a new job. Uneasy and alone, he looks across the street to Faiza for help. As he relies on their long friendship, desires for the beautiful hijabi firefighter reawaken within him.

Faiza can't deny Mansur, even though she should. Her heart broke when he married another woman. She got herself together and moved on. Now, he is back in their childhood neighborhood and her life. She knows they're just friends, but she can't help longing for more.

Family and culture kept them apart when young, but Mansur won’t allow interference from anyone or anything. He is determined to make Faiza more than just a friend.

The Groom is a boy-next-door romance novella full of passion, a little steam, and a Muslim alpha who proves that he is no longer a little boy.

No abuse. No cliffhanger. HEA guaranteed.

Interesting enough!

I learnt a bit from this audio!
I actually wasn’t aware of the religious aspect to this book. It’s one I’m not custom too.

This is really short but as I said the world building is good and I learnt quite a bit about Allah and the Islamic beliefs.

There’s also a little smut,
Divorce and re marriage.

Really good

This isn’t my first book by this author but this is her first audiobook so I had to give it a go! I tried to read this in ebook but it does read a little smoother in audio. The voices are well performed despite having one voice and I loved that like typical Lyndell fashion, she shows there is love after a first marriage in Muslim communities.

It displayed the anti blackness is Arab families, especially when it comes to interracial relationships. It’s a short read but definitely worth it in audio!

Racial prejudices.

I listened to Audible version of this book gifted to me from the author through Story Origin.

I know nothing about the Muslim religion. So I found this book enlightening. It is a single dad, friends to lovers romance. With family interference. Racial prejudices. Juggling jobs with a small child. Fasting and praying.

The narrator did a nice job reading this story. He did not over act the characters. He was very nice to listen to.

Entertaining Story

I actually read The Ex-Wife before reading, or should I say listening, to this one, so it was nice to go back and see how Mansur and Faiza ended up together. They grew up as friends, and always carried a torch for each other, but disapproving family members got in the way and Mansur ended up marrying someone else. When that didn't work out, he got another chance with Faiza, and this time he didn't squander that chance. I enjoyed the story and look forward to reading more of this series. I received a complimentary audiobook copy from StoryOrigin and am voluntarily leaving my review.
