Publisher's summary

'Judy’s done it again. Every woman over a certain age should read this wonderful book' Jennifer Bohnet

It has been a long and lonely year for neighbours Vivienne, Mary and Gwen. All ladies of a ‘certain age’, their lockdown experience has left them feeling isolated and alone. They are in desperate need of a change.

Things start to look up however, when Gwen comes up with a plan to get them out of London by borrowing a motor home. In no time at all the ladies are on the road – away from the city, away from their own four walls, and away from their worries.

The British countryside has never looked more beautiful. As they travel from Stonehenge to Dartmoor, from the Devon and Cornish coasts to the Yorkshire moors, gradually the years fall back, and the three friends start to imagine new futures with no limitations.

And as their journey continues and their friendships deepen, and while the seaside views turn into glorious mountains and moors, Mary, Vivienne and Gwen learn to smile again, to laugh again, and maybe even to love again. Now they can believe that the best is still to come…

Funny, joyful and with a spring in its step that reminds you to live every day like it’s your last. Judy Leigh has once again written the perfect feel-good novel for all fans of Dawn French and Cathy Hopkins.

Fun, inspiring, uplifting!

I loved how the three women became family and they had a positive attitude. The three knew to reflect and stay true to themselves.

My heart is full

A great laugh through and through. I felt connected to Vivian, Gwen and Mary from the very start. Highly recommend if you just need to smile.

Great Book!

I love Judy Leigh's books. As a 62-year-old single woman, I find it so refreshing to find books with older characters who have dreams, fall in love, develop fast friendships and experience all of the things that most books and movies seem to believe only happen to younger people. Phyllida Nash does an excellent job giving life and a distinctive voice to each character.

Wonderful!

This is another adventure with characters who are well defined, interesting, and who have problems as well as good times along the way toward a satisfying resolution of an interesting story. Good narrative makes it more even better..

Was anyone listening?

Follow these three women on their travels was fun. They added to my must-see list! However, one thing marred the story for me. I’m confused and disappointed in two women who push their friend towards a man she repeatedly and emphatically says she doesn’t want to speak to. They track him down, only to tell him that he missed his chance when they do see him. Then they tell him where their friend is staying! Their friend makes it abundantly clear from the start that she wants nothing to do with him, and she tells him so to his face, yet they give him her phone number. Neither the friends nor the man respect her wishes. She is right to be wary of a man who doesn’t take “no” for an answer. And probably friends who don’t respect her wishes. What’s the saying? “With friends like that…?” It’s a shame that this behavior was portrayed as acceptable.

Too many CV-19 references.

Too many Coronavirus references... won't age well, what with recent disclosures about masking and jabbing.
