Publisher's summary

The third installment in Mario Puzo's epic chronicle of the Corleone crime family - one of the most enduring lineages in American literature and cinema - achieves a stunning crescendo with a story that imagines the role of the Mafia in the assassination of a young, charismatic president.

Editorial reviews

Why You Should Download This Audiobook: Mark Winegardner's foray into Mario Puzo territory is not without example. Both Robert Ludlum and Sir Arthur Conan Doyle left behind characters who've come to life again in the works of others. Facing the daunting task of portraying Michael Corleone and "The Family" with authenticity, Winegardner proves a brilliant one-upsman. He's reverent to Puzo's style while expanding the characters' lives in convincing ways. A must for fans of the original Godfather.

Critic reviews

"Winegardner's deft plot-spinning is rivaled only by his sure grasp of Goodfellas mise-en-scene, the profanity-laced witticisms, the fashion fetishizing, the cool, long, dark '60s Chevy Biscaynes....A worthy addition to the chronicle of la famigilia Corleone." (Kirkus Reviews)

Great Story

Great continuation of the Godfather Returns story with compelling character development. Narrator was also very good.

History rewritten

This book could have been amazing. Scott Brick as always was GREAT but this was basically history rewritten with a Godfather slant. A few things were changed but 8nstea dof having fun with it they decided to stick to the "facts"

Good but lacking

Meandering throughout. Plot points are introduced, dropped then take forever to return to them. Adequate.

A decent follow up.

Characters were a decent continuation and reimagining of the events following the previous books as well as first 2 movies.

meh

the Godfather returns was brilliant, this one tied up loose ends but not in a very satisfying way. Where the previous entry was a 5/5 this one was a 2.5/5

Wonderful! especially when driving cross country.

I really enjoyed this book. I have only one complaint not that its anything to stop a person from wanting to enjoy it. I just didn't like the part that retells the time Tom met Sonny meet when they were just children . It goes entirely against what was originally written. I just think the two accounts should have been blended better. Please do not take this a anything bad. it really is a well written story.
